I am 99 % sure that my sons shivery/shuddery movements are due to his reflux. I know it isnt the typical way it presents but around the same time these episodes happened I was commenting to my husband that I can hear him refluxing all day long. Seriously like every 10 seconds. I think sometimes it tastes horrible so he shivers because of the taste. Does anyone else have any experience with this??
So I called his GI and asked if there was more meds we can give him and he said he is at a moderate dose and he doesnt want to up it. He takes one 15mg prevacid solutab once a day. He is 10 mos and weighs almost 20lbs.Here is the other thing. He is about to pop another tooth, maybe this is why he is shuddering. I dont know anyway I thought teething made reflux worse but he said no………..I Just am frustrated for my baby. I know he is uncomfortable and I cant do anything for him. Of course when he shudders I feel horrible for him.September 3, 2009 at 8:31 pm #63796AnonymousInactiveAlso I know he isnt classic sandifers but I swear this is the way he deals with it. He always pulls his chin in and shivers. Like he is trying to stop it from coming up. He always stiffens his arms as well.

September 4, 2009 at 8:01 am #63798AnonymousInactiveHave you checked out marci-kids to see what dose they suggest? More than like he needs an increase. I’d try 30mg/day and if u see improvement “tell” your Dr. that it’s worked and you want an increase. They have to be “told” sometimes. 🙂
Also, I completely disagree w/the GI about teething and reflux. Teething absolutely flares reflux w/my DD. She for the most part is reflux free…except for when she’s teething. She just cut her 2 bottom 2yr molars and it brought back her reflux symptoms. I’m ready for the last 2 teeth & then we should be able to wean her. But…YES, IMO, teething affects reflux!!!ETA: Or maybe split his 15mg/day into 7.5mg 2x/day? It’s also possible that he doesn’t need an increase, but that he’s just running out by the end of the day. I’d split your original dose first, then if that doesn’t work up the dose. HTH!valentine4mommy2009-09-04 08:55:46
September 4, 2009 at 10:11 am #63800AnonymousInactiveAmber-I did and I called the GI on call last night and he said he wouldnt up his meds that he was on the a moderate amount and he would not feel safe going any higher??
So I noticed this morning that when he was swallowing his finger puffs he would wince and swallow hard. I wonder if his throat is raw and that would explain the random shivers. If I had a sore throat i would make me shudder too….We have an appt today at 4!September 6, 2009 at 9:49 am #63811AnonymousInactiveI’d try a second opinion. We had more than I could count before I got her on 30-42mg/day. She was awful before that.
