Hi! Haven’t been on for a while! So hi to everyone! Just wondered if if anyone has had any experience of their children being very fussy about food, when they are coming to the end of the reflux disease!! My DD is now 15 months old and is much better as far as pain and vomiting are concerned, as the medicine has everything pretty much under control! Its just that she is unbelievably fussy about what she eats! It is very difficult to make sure she gets a balanced diet as she really only likes pasta and cheese!!!! Oh! and bananas and apples! Is this just a toddler thing or because of the reflux?! Anyone have any ideas?

I’d say that there’s a range of normal, but that when it’s a texture, smell, or feeding aversion issue, it can be really extreme in that they might only want 1 or 2 things and refuse everything else. It’s usually often accompanied with volume issues as well. My advice would be to keep offering new foods even though she doesn’t eat them, and try to cash in on the benefits of peer pressure… introduce new foods when friends are around that will eat them. Eventually she will hopefully broaden her experimentation. If she enjoys eating, and drinks well, but just seems to have a limited diet, I would ask your doctor about keeping her on a formula or adding in a multivitamin. If you think it might be a feeding issue, as in an aversion to textures or oral issues, you can always get a feeding assessment or help from a dietician.

She was able to slowly get her to eat other foods by just continuing to offer them with her pasta and cheese. Will she drink a smoothie? You might be able to get a new fruit or two mixed in without her knowing it and some yogurt? Another mom used to chop up some veggies to a fine chop and add them to the pasta without her lo catching on. As long as she doesn’t help you cook that is. LOL We used carnation instant breakfast after we stopped formula to continue getting vitamins since we were not able to take any vitamin supplements due to increased reflux. Good luck

That is how I got her to eat eggs, steak, lots of stuff…but so far it has failed to work on peas (haha!)
