I know some of you use Gaviscon instead of Mylanta, and my dr suggested it since we are still having issues with nighttime breaktrough stuff.

Overall she is a new baby with the neocate, and the max dose of zegerid for her size, but the night-time breakthrough is tough, and the dr suggested this since it has that foamy barrier thing.

Do you use extra strength or regular strenght liquid…and if regular strength where on earth do you find it…I looked at Target, Rainbow, Cub (grocery stores), CVS and Walgreens and ended up with the extra strength

also is dosing similar to mylanta?

ohh shannon, i just found this thread because i am having the same problem! my GI recommended gaviscon reg. strength.. to see if it is the actual reflux that is coming up on him at night that is causing him to stir so much.

anyhow, i was wondering if you found it yet?? and if you used it!

Regular strength is the only one that has that ingredient that is actually supposed to keep the acid down I think.

It’s actually the inactive ingredients (sodium alginate or alginic acid, which come from seaweed) from what I’ve read, along with the other inactive ingredients that act as the anti reflux barrier. The active ingredients are antacids only.
