InactiveGood news- Seth went for his follow up GI appt. this morning and the doc said he looked great.
He is really growing and gaining with the Pediasure, he was 26 lbs. and 8 oz and 34 inches tall. He is still refluxing at night at times but nothing like he used to be but the GI still prescribed us 45 mg. of Prevacid per day! Yippee!
I did not even have to ask! He said I didn’t have to go up on the dosage if he continued to do ok with the 30 mg. but at least I would have it if I needed it and I could also use it if he went on a “jag” like he sometimes does. I have been giving Seth half of a TUMS at night and that has made a remarkable difference but maybe if he was on a higher dose of Prevacid he wouldn’t even need that. I just got his 30 mg. prescription filled though so I may have to wait until next month to try the new dosage out.The GI still thinks he will grow out of this although he did admit most infant reflux cases don’t last this long so we are still waiting for that day to come but all in all a good appt.!

Sounds like a great appointment!October 24, 2006 at 2:02 pm #16512Anonymous
InactiveTiffany, you guys go to the gwinett office right? Do you think since Aidan has already been seen at the ATL office we would be able to get an appt at the Gwinnett one without a referal? (it was a while back when he was about 2-3 months old that we first went). I think he’s doing ok, but it never hurts to double check with a specialist to make sure! (and the one we saw in ATL was a moron, just a complete MORON, gave him levsin told me he had colic and bitched about his ped for putting him on 30 mg of prevacid telling me to cut the dose in half then ignored me because Aidan was healthy “looking”). I’ll do a search b/c I think you gave me the name of the doc you take Seth to see…
And that’s awesome that the appt went so well!! congratulations!!!!

InactiveGlad to hear things went so well.
It does sound like you have a wonderful doctor. Wish I could find one like that here in OHIO.

InactiveGreat news.
I wish all doctors were as good as that!! I hope Seth outgrows his reflux soon, but at least you’ve got a good dose of Prevacid for him for now.October 24, 2006 at 3:07 pm #16517Anonymous
InactiveThat’s great! A really good weight gain too… and almost near your doctor’s magic number of 27 lbs. Glad to hear that he’s doing so much better. Thanks for the update.

InactiveThanks everyone. Seth is still far from being out of the woods but at least we are FINALLY starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Jill, the docs in the practice travel around to all of the offices. From what I understand all files are at the main Atlanta location and the nurses just pull the ones that they need at the satellite offices for the day. So, you are free to go to any location. I know our doc Saripkin sees patients at the Atlanta office. Keep in mind, his philosophy before was always that Seth was maxed out on the Prevacid. He brought it up and upped the dosage because he said there have been new studies and the dosing recommendations have increased (what we have known all along here!)
Lori, yes we are finally approaching that magic weight mark
but he did say it was a range from 27-29 lbs. I am sure when we get there he will probably change it. Just like when he was a baby, the ped. said he would grow out of it by 3 months, then 6, 18, 1 year, etc….I think sometimes they just give us benchmarks because if they had told us from the get go that we would be dealing with this for two years, I would have went off the deep end.
I have my fingers (and toes and eyes) crossed though!!! -
