InactiveWell I think it is going OK on the reduced dose. But Alana has been crabby as lately… but it only seems to be every third day or so. She will be fine one day and sleep at night perfectly and do this for a couple of days and then bam…like last night…be just so irritable and sooky. I was up to her about 7 times. But I don’t think it is reflux (I haven’t heard her do the regurgitate and swallow thing which was classic Alana…and I slept in her room last night and didn’t hear it at all). I am wondering about teeth. She has had her mouth clamped tightly closed with her lips in between her gums for about 5 days. She used to be OK about us looking in her mouth but now she clamps it shut and will not let us touch her gums at all. She is also not chewing everything as much (maybe her gums are just too sore).
The other thing that happened yesterday at daycare was she only did two 30 minuties naps.. I think they wait until she is too tired to put her down and she just can’t relax. When I picked her up her eyes were nearly popping out of her head. I will have to have a word to them about that. Needless to say she has already done two 1 hour sleeps this morning (its only 11 am here) and she’s still asleep…she must be so tired.
Anyway I am going to persist with the lower dose for the time being because I’m not convinced she is in pain.

InactiveHmmm….it does sound like teething to me. The clamped lips, tender gums, not chewing. The every third day thing actually makes sense too. My children’s doctor told me that when babies teethe that their teeth actually move up and down many times before they finally pop out. So the pain and discomfort does come and go. Probably nature’s way of making it more bearable for our little sweeties.

InactiveTherese~ Do they have anything like Hyland’s Teething Tablets over there? They were the best thing I could give Kayleigh when she was suffering with teething. In fact after her dental work last week the dentist told me I could use those or tylenol for pain. The tablets worked great! Poor Alana! Oh another thing we used was a frozen washcloth. Just wet a cloth, squeeze excess water out and freeze. Kayleigh used to make a huge mess but it soothed her gums for sure.
Way to go on the lower dose! Especially if she is teething, that always made things worse here.

InactiveI have been using some (hylands that is) and they seem to work when I give them too her but the effects only last a couple of hours. The bottle says 2-3 tablets 4 x a day…so I didn’t want to go over that.

InactiveTherese,
Brianna was the exact same way when her top two teeth were coming in. She used to let me look in her mouth all the time, and then all the sudden…no way. It does sound like teething with me. I hope those teeth come in soon!
