Inactivehow should i give it?? i asked my regular ped today if i should ask the GI nurse if i could up his dose tp 30 mg’s.. and he said just up it yourself! hahaa.. who woulda known he was so great? lol.
anyhow, i asked this question when i moved up to 22.5mg’s.. but now that we are going to try the full 30.. how should i give it? ONCE or TWICE a day?? it is his sleep we are trying to get solved.. soo that would lead me to give it all at once.. BUT i am not sure if 30 mg’s is too much for all at once??! and i have been noticing him spitting up more lately and burping a lot more… i think its because his molars are coming in. sooo on the flip side.. i am thinking maybe i should give 15 during the day as well so that those spit ups are covered from any acid.
whats going on in your guy’s mind?? haha but seriously i dont know what to do.. i keep going back and forth. i just gave him 15mg’s tonight.. thinking that i should do it twice a day..and give him another 15 in the morning.. so thats what i am leading towards right now..

Inactivei would def. do it 2-3 times a day since babies under 2 years old metabolize PPI’s really fast.
i know 3 can be hard with timing meals, though. we started doing 2 doses at 8 months, but we were also giving pepcid complete at bedtime.

InactiveWhen Myles was on 30 mgs we did three doses – 10 mg’s 3 times per day. All babies are different but this is what marci-kids reccommends, so if you are going to try marci-kids’ dosing I think it makes sense to also space it the way they recommend…..at least try it anyway. If you find he still has problems at night than maybe 15 mgs twice a day would be best for him. You know, trial and error!

Good news on the higher dose.
Good luck! I hope it solves his sleep problems.

InactiveI would probably do two doses, one am and one pm, and see what happens. If that combo doesn’t work then I’d try around with different options. I have heard from some that 30mg all in the evening sometimes causes cramping, so some moms have done 30mg in the am and an H2 blocker at night.

InactiveI agree. I would do 15 in the morning and 15 at night. If after a few days that doesn’t seem to be any better maybe do less in the morning and more at night. We played with Justice’s doses, but it never made his sleeps any better. I really wish I could see what Shane is doing in his sleep. Justice is pretty calm now, but when he sleeps with me he does move all over the place after a few hours. He can only do about 2 hours nursing on me and then he is rolling all over in his sleep. Would it be possible to video tape his sleeping? Maybe you have already done that.

InactiveShelby, did you say that Justice nurses for 2 hours?!

InactiveJust to be the black sheep
I did all Alana’s 30mg in the am…for most of the time she was on it. I sometimes used a H2 blocker at night. I think each babe is probably a bit different (as their reflux is) so I would probably play around with it a bit to see what is best.May 17, 2007 at 7:57 pm #33604Anonymous
InactiveWe do 15mg in the AM and 15mg in the PM. This has really made a difference for Gabby for sleep. She still moves around but not as much.

InactiveNot on a norml basis he doesn’t nurse for two hours, but when he naps or sleeps with me he does. I had always heard that once a baby is done eating they will let go, but not Justice. He stays latched on until he wakes up. Sometimes if I am lucky I can unlatch him and he will go back to sleep. Not only does he stay latched on, but he suckels the whole time too. He sleeps great by himself at night though in his own bed.

Inactivehey guys. thanks. i cant do it 3 times a day.. its almost impossible because of how much he likes to eat and snack. i guess i will try the 15mg in the morning and 15 @night. if that doesnt work.. i will give the pepcid complete a try.. if someone will guide me through it. than.. if that doesnt work.. than i guess thats that with meds..and we can pursue other avenues more.
i am still weary with the meds helping because i would think that 22.5 mg’s would help somewhat at night with his sleep.. and the h2blockers NEVER made a difference at night either…but we’ll see..
HOPEFULLY the extra 7.5 mg’s will make a difference and i can finally put this to rest! its soo tiring. and SHELBY~ I will try and video tape it.. i dont have a video camera so i will borrow one.. its pretty much like justices sleep.. constant rolling ..and very sharp movements out of nowhere. no crying though.

InactiveWhat does shane’s ped say about the sleeping and movements? Does it seem to bother him? Does he seem tired during the day? I don’t really know what Justice’s sleep looks like now unless he sleeps with me. I don’t know if he moves so much because he is with me and I bother him being right there. it is all so confusing. Why can’t they come with instructions?

InactiveCould you try like 22 mgs before the last feed of the day, the other bit in the morning and the zantac middle of the day. My theory is that maybe being more upright etc during the day you could get by with the smaller dose and the Zantac???? Just an idea.

Inactivewe did 15 and 15 and that worked for us. (I couldn’t do three either because of all the snacking.
) Good luck!May 19, 2007 at 9:04 pm #33834Anonymous
InactiveWhen Kaelyn was on 22.5 mg, we did 7.5 in the AM and 15 at night because her issues were worse at night. It seemed to work much better that way.

InactiveHow is Shane doing? Are things any better with the increase?
