thanks, i think that i will need to squirt water bc it took 15 minutes to dissolve a whole tab in his mouth this morning. may i ask what dosage ur daughter is at? it’s been 7 days, and i don’t see any improvement. i dose him 15mg in the am and 7.5 in the afternoon. that’s what i think with him not eating as much, he may have a empty tummy quicker. thank u for ur input, i appreciate it. Do u squirt the water w/syringe?

i syringed a little water into his mouth and surprisingly he didn’t spit it out and the tab dissolved a lot faster. I split the tab and did 1/2 at a time, tom i’ll try the whole thing at once again w/syringing some water in.

It is now the 8th day on solutabs with minimal improvement. I wish that we could be one of those, like u that saw full improvement w/i 10 days. Not likely this will be the case…

We squirt the water with a syringe. I actually use the syringe that comes with infant tylenol. I fill that up with warm water. I also fill a bottle up with warm water and let her suck on that to lubricate her mouth. I set her down on my thighs with her whole body stretching out the length of my thighs. Then I put the solutab in her right cheek while I hold it with my right index finger. I start manipulating it and rubbing it with my index finger and then I use my left hand to take the syringe and squirt just one little press of the syringe of water into the right side of her mouth (near the tab). I let her suck and suck, swallow. Manipulate and rub the tab a bit more, give a squirt of water, manipulate and rub while she is sucking and swallowing. This continues until I can feel it’s all the way dissolved and then I quickly let her start sucking on my index finger like it’s a paci (she won’t take a paci or else I’d stick that straight in there). After it’s dissolved and she has swallowed a couple times, I squirt a little bit more water in there (a few times) to ensure that the excess beads and such are swallowed. Sometimes I also offer the bottle of water to get those beads to go down! I also will sometimes tilt her back to let gravity help me (so she won’t spit it out).

My daughter is on 15mg. Our pedi wants us to give 7.5mg twice a day but I just give the entire tab in the morning. It’s a delayed-release tab so we are getting relief for almost 24 hours. We also have Zegerid and I occasionally will give this at night (around 9-10PM) if she’s been hiccupy and spitty in the evening. Zegerid gives Audrey major constipation problems so we don’t use it very much.

You have to remember that your son has been spitting almost all of his doses out so today may have been his first “true” dose since he didn’t spit it out. If he was spitting most of it out the other days, it stands to reason that this is why you arn’t seeing any relief yet. If you continue getting his doses in him (without him spitting it out), I’d venture to say you’ll see some relief within a day or two but the major difference will likely be in 10 days. Each day gets better and better though….it wasn’t like turning a light bulb on for us. It gradually got better for us….not just instantly one day.

This is just my opinion, but based on your other post, it really really sounds like your little one can not tolerate milk or has a milk protein allergy. You don’t get blood in the stool from reflux. You can get reflux symptoms from a milk allergy, so the prevacid can help somewhat that way, but really unless you address the allergy/intolerance, you likely won’t see the kind of improvement that your want. I would try neocate and see if that helps. Then if you need to, see if the PPI can be upped a bit more. Good luck.
