Does he get these b/c of how I am cutting his nails or are babies just prone to this? I get them all the time, but I thought it was b/c I tend to bite my nails. His little fingers get red and inflammed looking. Anyone got any tips on how to prevent this? I try to cut his nails straight across but he wiggles so much that it doesn’t always happen. I gave up trying to cut them when he was sleeping b/c I always woke him up. TIA.

Not sure… I would bet that nail issues run in families..

But, it could be if they are cut crookedly they could snag and cause the hang nails. My solution has always been to bite them!

Liza used to get these on her big toes all the time. I asked her doctor if I was doing something wrong and she said no, that it’s like many other things, heredity. On the bright side, for some unknown reason, Liza seems to have outgrown this problem and has not had a hang nail in months.

Sarah gets them all the time, don’t know why. She insists on putting bandaids on all of them, though, which means we go through a lot of bandaids.
