hard wood floors and an 8 mos old

Hey,

we are getting ready to put hardwood floors and tile and i have been thinking a lot about how on earth am i going to keep Kendra from benging her head and getting others bobos? well i found this padded helmet (see link below), but i don’t think kendra would keep that on very happily. the mat is a good idea too.

I saw double-sided mats at Sam’s Club last week – grey on one side, primary colors on the other. I don’t remember the price,.but it seemed to be a good price.

We have had 8 of the primary color mats since my dd was just starting to crawl on our wood floors. She too hit her head a couple of times, but more often than not she landed on her nicely padded rear end. I never let her wear socks unless they had lots of grippers on the bottom. Now I’m doing the same things with my ds.

Another advantage of the mats is that they help make it more comfortable for you (or another adult) to sit on the floor. You can grab one or two of them and have a nice little portable cushion for anywhere your child wants to sit and play with you. Plus, I use a couple of them in front of the tub so that my knees don’t hurt so much on the ceramic tile floor.

Wow, great ideas. I feel like a bad mom. I just let Justice fall and get right back up again. He is a very tough guy though. He has to be with a big brother that picks on him all the time.

You are going to love those hardwood floor once your potty training. Very easy clean up.

Don’t feel like a bad mom, Shelby… we also have hardwood and tile all over the main floor and I’ve never padded it. We do have some area rugs over some of the hardwood. I just kept an eye on them when they were starting to walk, more because I didn’t want them to get into trouble than anything else. I have a lot of friends with the foam pads though.

Dianne, great idea…My knees are killing me when I bathe Ariella. I guess I’ll get those mats to pad the area where she’s playing and to use it when we’re bathing her.
