Has anyone had sucess with Losec

Hi

Sorry I havent introduced myself but just quickly I wanted to asked if anyone has tried Losec and if so when did it start to work?

My little boy is 5 months old as as very bad silent reflux, he only sleeps in 20 min blocks (3-4times)during the day and wakes up every hour at night. He is constantly clawing at me and arching back and things are just going from bad to worse. I cant even get into a paed until November. Each day it is a battle just to get him to take any milk. Stopped breastfeeding about 3 weeks ago thinking I wasnt giving him enough He starts to cry when as we are sitting down in his feeding chair which tells me he is starting to associate the bottle with pain. Today I was lucky to get 400ml yesterday 300ml and the day before 100 ml. Have also been advised to not give him any food and focus on the milk. I am also doing everything else- sit him up after a feed, raised his bed ect. Also have tried Zantac, worked for a little while. Sorry for the long story just wanted to know if anyone has had similar problems and any experiences with losec as we have started him on this today. Thank you

We didn’t. It does work,but it’s hard to give to infants. The compounds aren’t made correctly almost ever. And, it tastes terrible and is impossible to give splitting pills or mixing caps into applesauce. The bigger problem though generally is that the dose is too low for the most part. Check out http://www.marci-kids.com and the link about compounded meds stickied in the medications forum. I’d personally ask for prevacid (called zoton) in Australia. Try the solutabs, try to get a good dose. If that doesn’t work try zoton caps in buffer babies- supplied by marci-kids.

Hi, I guess it’s always good to look at the root cause of a problem. In
acid reflux, mostly how we combine our food. If this situation normally
happens around 1 hour after having meal, then it might be good to look
into food-combining.

Protein food and carbohydrate food require
different digestive juices in order to be properly broken down and used
by the body. Protein requires an acid environment for digestion,
whereas carbohydrate requires an alkaline environment for digestion. It
is a fact in chemistry that alkalies and acids neutralize each other.
So when protein and carbohydrate are combined (such as meat and a piece
of bread or a potato), the acid and alkaline digestive juices
neutralize each other.

The protein will putrefy (that means the
protein will rot and decay) and the carbohydrate will ferment. Imagine
this, the meat rot and decay and the bread and potato ferment in the
stomach. All these decaying meat, bread and potato are held up in the
stomach, causing gas and discomfort.

This fermentation in our
stomach will build up air, and when the pressure is too big for the
Sphincter master to hold, the pressure will force open the sphincter
causing stomach acid to splash up into the esophagus and throat.
