I’m just whining here…but I cannot WAIT for Emma’s PPI to kick in!! I am so grateful that we had a grace period with her. She was a sweet, snuggly, lovable baby for the first few weeks. My mommy instinct got the ball rolling on alimentum and ordering a buffer babies kit to use with OTC prilosec. (doc won’t prescribe anything but compounded prevacid…booo!) Although she was still a very good baby…I could tell she didn’t seem completely comfortable.
We are now on day 5 of the PPI and she seems to get worse everyday!!! She barely sleeps for more than 10 minutes at a time and wakes up crying out. (except at night, thankfully…but it’s still an uncomfortable grunting event). She HAS to be swaddled or her squirminess (sandifer’s??) kicks in and she can’t settle herself. *sigh* I guess I was hoping it would be QUICK results since she wasn’t all that bad to begin with…now it’s awful and I CANNOT WAIT for this med to kick in!!!Counting the days here……….Emma is going to daycare on Thursday for a “trial run” since I have a doctor appointment. I’m afraid the sitter is going to be terrified to get her full time at the end of January when she sees how miserable she is right now! LOL!December 29, 2009 at 10:24 pm #65296AnonymousInactiveHang in there… HUGS!
December 29, 2009 at 10:54 pm #65297AnonymousInactiveOH Amy. I am SO in the same boat. I have taken Madden a few times to Ms. Candy’s house (our sitter) and I am SO anxious every time. I don’t know how she’s going to do it. She has 5 other kids some days! They are all around 3, so she doesn’t have any babies, but, heck, I can hardly do it with just him and Evie. She has said every time that he did “fine” but I don’t think she would tell me if he cried the whole time b/c she knows I’d feel bad. I say, just give the sitter some Mylanta, and like you said, sometimes they behave so well at the sitters! Anyways, I’ve seen lots of moms say that day 12 was a magic day, and I think it was you who had to wait until like day 16? My kids are turning out to be clones of each other….
December 29, 2009 at 11:05 pm #65298AnonymousInactiveHUGS! It will get better. I can only imagine what you have been going through with the lack of sleep and all the other things. Hope Thursday goes well… we both have a big day that day!
December 29, 2009 at 11:10 pm #65300AnonymousInactiveI honestly think that, just like at home, Sarah and the other ‘big kids’ will be the ones who suffer at the sitter’s house. They have ‘preschool time’ and do so many cute and cool craft activities, songs, dances, etc…I’m afraid THOSE are the things that will go out the window when my reflux baby enters the house! LOL! Not really funny…but probably true!
You are right that we had to wait until day 17 with Sarah and zegerid but she was SOOOO much worse than Emma is. I guess that’s why I was hoping we’d see results sooner with Emma. Granted…Sarah was 4 months old when we started zegerid and Emma is only 5.5 wks old. Mylanta doesn’t work miracles at home but it wouldn’t hurt to bring some to the sitter’s Thursday. The main difference I see with Emma and Sarah is Emma seems to be more of a silent refluxer. She’ll spit up but NOTHING like Sarah did. Emma chokes, coughs, grunts, and arches a LOT!!! Sarah just spit up and screamed.December 30, 2009 at 8:19 am #65301AnonymousInactive:(. not much to say… but … and it will pass soon!!!
