InactiveMy DH could not have any milk-based products until he was 6… so he was on soy formula/soy products and he is perfectly fine!

Inactiveyes, there are also thousands of people that smoke a pack of cigarettes a day and are perfectly fine. but imo, i wouldnt take that chance.
we know much more about soy now then we did back then.

InactiveI think this is another one of those things that it’s best to avoid whenever possible, but sometimes it can’t be avoided. If it can’t then there is no point in freaking out over it. As someone else said earlier, dehydration is a much bigger problem than anything that is contained in soy.
Kaelyn has horrible reactions to milk, so we use soy milk instead (although she was never on soy formula). She doesn’t drink a whole lot of it, but she does drink some. She also drinks half a drinkable soy yogurt every day. It is a guaranteed way for us to get some protein and calcium into her. At this stage of the game, that’s more important. She loves broccoli and I add blackstrap molasses to tons of stuff, but the soy milk is a big help. So, I’m not going to panic and possibly cause a bigger issue by removing an important aspect of her diet.

Inactiveohh did you try goats milk.. ?? i read through this briefly..sorry if you have..
we actually are trying goats milk again!! i think it was the goats yogurt making him spit up.. soo we did 3 ounces of goats and 6 rice milk this morning and he has done fine!! hopefully it wont get worse as the day goes on.
but if it does.. than i will have to do some soy.. and thats what we HAVE to do.. and i agreee it is better than getting malnurished.

InactiveLauren, no, we never tried goat’s milk but I read that you have to be careful who you get it from. Geez, is anything safe nowadays???

Inactivei am pretty sure they mean “who you get it from” when it pertains to raw goats milk. we used the pasturized goats milk , the meyenburg brand. its a great brand , BUT i did hear that pasturized it best for digestion.. but its a bit scary to give children unpasturized milk.. thats why you have to be careful about who you get it from.
did you hear another reason why you have to be careful concerning pasturized milk?

Inactivethe only brand of goats milk that i have seen in stores is meyenburg and its perfectly safe. like lauren said, when you buy raw milk, you have to be careful where you get it from. raw milk has many health benefits (its not stripped of probiotics and vitamins like pasterized milk is), but only if you get it from trusted farmers that take good care of their animals.
