Inactivecan anybody tell me when allergy testing is more likely to be effective (last time we tested ds who is now 2.5, he was 8 mos old). Also which method is MOST reliable?
Also, if we see hives/eczema, delayed emptying, thirst, hyperactivity, and red circles under the eyes but no other symptoms when he gets a bothersome food, is this intolerance or allergy in mild form? Last visit with the allergist yielded nothing definitive and after an endo, pedi GI said:
Allergic colitis-intolerance protein
Mild proctitus-inflammation at anus
Duadaudnum-increased eosinifilic mild duadinitus
Still seeing above symptoms so trying to decide if it’s time for a repeat scope, allergy test or if food diary is the only real answer-toddlers are so darn hard to do an elim test with! Please help!!!!

Inactivefrom what your ped gi said, it sounds like an eosinophilic problem.

Inactiveyes, at the time, she put us on neocate and he remained on that for about 5 mos. She then moved us on to soy milk. he didn’t show hives or allergic signs and so i had no formal complaints, but after a period of months the symptoms I described above appeared. I had no way of knowing for sure if it was “foods” he was on or the soy. Questions we asked her were never really “answered”. I still can’t tell you how close his diagnosis was to eos disorders. Plus I have no idea if they were healed over this time on neocate or not. She just had this little track she puts all her patients on. We got so bewildered by her, we haven’t been back since he was around 18 mos old. He’s now 2.5 and we’re not sure what to do. Her explanations of eso disorders were that he didn’t have that and she wasn’t familiar with FPIES, etc. I can’t tell you how little help she was and she’s the only one in this city. Around this time, I was pregnant with ds #2 and so my options of schlepping around got very limited or I would have gone on to see another specialist and see what could be discovered. Hopefully someone will recognize our experience and can share what happened with them so I can decide a direction to take. The allergist and pedi GI did not agree with each other’s conclusions so needless to say they wouldn’t work together to find the problem. A definitive test result would be great.

InactiveWhat has helped us the most is a homeopathic dr. who does muscle and energy testing on our DD 6 mos. to see what she is allergic too. It has been a godsend. Our homepath has worked very well with our GI too. However, when they disagree, I go with the homeopath. As much has our poor DD has suffered, I can’t imagine the hell we would still be in if we didn’t have our homeopath to call and get quick answers on, especially since we are starting solids.
I know this isn’t conventional but we have also used a great Chiro with good results (who also does NET and muscle testing). A good pediatric chiro may be able to help you too.
hope this helps
