Help – He won't leave a band-aid on his finger!

Hi everyone.

Any suggestions on how to get Andrew (19 mths) to leave a band-aid on his finger so that I can put some Neosporin on a little spot that is getting increasing signs of infection. It is on the first finger next to his “sucking” thumb.

I haven’t even gotten a chance to see if the band-aid interferes with his sucking or not…since he BITES it off – sticking out his tongue to give me the little bits of band-aid from in his mouth.

Aside from putting a “muzzle” on him (and somehow I don’t think they sell those for toddlers), how do I manage to treat this almost-infected finger??

I’ve put a call into my ped, but thought I’d ask here, too.

I don’t know if it is possible but what about the spray on bandaids that are invisible. I don’t know if you can use them with neosporin or if they will come off if he sucks on his fngers at all… It may be toxic who knows, but that is the only thing I can think of… Hopefully someone else will chime in with a good suggestion.

I once had to put a sock over my son’s hand to keep him from taking off a bandage on his finger, but he was younger than your LO is, and he didn’t bother with it after that. If I were desperate, I might have even duct-taped it to his shirt sleeve but thankfully didn’t have to!
