I know this has been a recent thread here but just thought I’d check for more ideas.
It’s never been easy for me to get my babe to take zegerid. It was working if mixed in less liquid and spoon fed (he hated it but it went down). I could never get it down him with regular amount of liquid. This week he started doing this weird continuous choking/gulping thing when I give it to him. It’s very scarey. I don’t know if he’s aspirating the stuff or what. In the process he swallows huge amounts of air then throws up what he’s just taken.
He doesn’t love bottles but I got one dose down him yesterday morning in 1 1/2 ounce of bm. I was giddy. No such luck in the pm. I tried and tried but had a very angry, arching, fussy boy for several hours. He wasn’t having any.
I’ve tried the medicine cup with a nipple to get him to take it mixed up at recommended dose. (gagged getting it down and threw it up). He had a nasty reaction to Prevacid Solutabs so can’t go that route. cereal is not an option because of allergies. No insurance coverage for compounds.
I really like how he’s been doing on zegerid but need some help in figuring out how to get it down him. I’m still working on getting him the correct dose but at this point, I can’t even get the current dose down him.
