InactivePlease read my other post about switching from Allimentum to
Neocate. After 3 days of making the transition, we are now
experiencing severe watery diarrhea. She has always had diarrhea,
but now it’s really watery and breaking her bottom out…similar to
what the Similac Soy did…geez, can’t seem to get a break here.
Did anyone else experience diarrhea from the Neocate?
Thanks.

Inactivei would give the neocate more time. it could still be the milk proteins from the alimentum that she is reacting to. it can take a month for those to clear out of the system.
have you done anything else to her diet lately? mylanta causes diarhea, not sure if youre using that?

InactiveNo, not using anything except the 3 oz. of Allimentum to 2 oz. of
Neocate. Even with the Allimentum it wasn’t unusal to have 8
diarrhea diapers during the day…and that usually requires changing of
clothes and bedding….horrible. But, her bottom didn’t break out.Today I noticed her bottom is breaking out since having the watery
diarrhea with the Neocate mixture. The diarrhea with the
Allimentum was like really thin yellow liquid. The diarrhea with
the Neocate/Allimentum mix is like a really light green liquid with
little specks of the yellow Allimentum.I guess I’m just so disappointed that the diarrhea seems to be
worse. Maybe I’m just over~reacting since I just through cleaning
up a huge mess. I babysit for her, and I was changing one messy
diaper and before I got the other one on, with no notice….all over
me, the couch , the quilt, etc…….I’m toooooooooooooooooo old for
this…<sigh>Thanks for listening.

InactiveIMO, you cant see the true effectivness of the neocate yet, especially since you are stilll mixing in alimentum. the fact that she had so much diarhea on alimentum ( as my son did) i think shows that she cant tolerate the alimentum.
i know its hard, but try to be patient, and give it more time. in the meantime cover her bottom in some balmex or whatever.

InactiveIf she’ll take the Neocate plain, would you cuy out the
allimentum? I’m not sure she will, but I could try it. I’ve
called the Dr., but no return call yet. I emailed her Dietician,
and she just said I’d have to talk to the Dr. and to reduce the Neocate
from the Allimentum for now….drats.Her tummy doesn’t feel as hard and bloated today, so that is a plus.
Thanks.

Inactiveno, i would NOT reduce the neocate. i would do it the other way around. neocate is much more tolerated than alimentum if the baby has a milk sensitivity. espcially since you are saying she is less bloated. if she will take the neocate plain, that would be ideal, but a lot of babies wont do it right away.

InactiveThanks Natalia. I read the post you had the link to…very
informative. We call in her weight again next Thurs., hopefully
by then the transition will go smoothly and the explosive diarrhea has
slowed down some.Take Care.

InactivePersonally I would try the Neocate straight and see if she would take it. She is still young and might not object to the taste as much as the old ones. If she won’t take it straight I would try and reduced the Alimentum to Neocate ration as quickly as possible.
Alana always had liquid poos on Pepti Junior (like alimentum) and it wasn’t until solid food that we saw solid poos again.
The green colour is also pretty typical.

InactiveWe are trying 3 parts Neocate to 2 parts Allimentum today…the opposite of what we were doing. Thanks for all your help.

InactiveDidn’t read the other posts but could she have a corn allergy/intolerance???? I believe someone else on here posted their child couldn’t take neocate bc of that?
