HELP! transition from seat to crib

Hi all!

So my 5-mo-old has been sleeping in a glider/chair to sit up at an angle for his reflux. Well, we’re transitioning to his crib by putting him in the pack-and-play bassinet first. He initially slept in the pack-and-play but his spitups were so severe that we moved him to a chair upon his pulmonologist’s recommendation. Last night was the first night back in the bassinet…what a disaster! I could tell that he felt so lost because he didn’t have the comfort of the chair surrounding him so he would flail around once I put him down, and that would startle him and wake him up!

Also, sometimes when I went to put him down he would reflux and I’d have to begin the quieting down process all over again!

Has anyone gone through this before? Any suggestions?

Have you elevated the crib on one side? I put a folded towel under my daughter’s bassinet mattress. That might help. I also put a large rolled up blanket along my daughter’s back when she is lying on her side in her bassinet. She also snuggles her face slightly against her burp cloth (she like the sensation of feeling cuddled). Basically, I try to simulate the conditions of when I am holding her. But, she is only 2 months old and may not move around as much as your 5 month old lo. She does squirm before she falls asleep and will spit up often. I keep a burp cloth on the mattress under her head so that I can change it without having to change the sheets. Having said all this, I make sure she makes a good burp and I hold her upright for 5-15 minutes after feeding before lying her down. I also watch her carefully after I put her down. If she is squirming too much and making noises, I pick her up to burp her again as sometimes she has a little more air she needs to get out. Hope some of this helps. Good luck to you!
