InactiveI had the worst experience this past Wednesday. The GI specialist (that we waited for two weeks to see) was the most prideful, arrogant man I have ever had the privilege of meeting. He treated me like a child, dismissed my concerns, didn’t want to hear the list of symptoms I had written down, told me all babies have reflux, barely even looked at my baby, and just smiled a corny I-KNOW-ALL-AND-YOU-KNOW-NOTHING smile as I spoke. One time he raised his voice at me and told me “I WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER PRESCRIBE THAT DRUG!!!!” (a PPI). When I mentioned Marci-kids and pulled out the printed paperwork he started yelling at me and told me a little bit of knowledge like this is a danger to my child, blah blah blah. I asked about esophagal damage and he said, “LET ME REPEAT…..blah blah blah” Then went on to tell me he was the director of such and such and the main doctor for such and such in NY on Acid Reflux. You get the picture. So, my baby WAS on a maximum dose of Zantac. It did nothing. He put him on AXID. He’s 12 pounds and he put him on 1.2mL three times a day. He has only seemed to get worse. I cried during the Dr’s visit. I was so mad at myself! But I just felt so fed up and mistreated.
DON’T EVER SEE DR. STEVEN SCHWARTZ!!!
Back to square one. NYC is an awful place to deal with a baby with Acid Reflux. All the doctors seem to be ridiculously conservative in an ignorant way.

InactiveCheck out the dr. recommendations. I think that Thais recommended someone who prescribed a good dose.

InactiveI see the recommendation now, so thanks for pointing it out. 🙂 Someone also said that Nancy Pittman has horrible bedside manner and won’t really listen to you. I’m not sure if I’m up for that. Plus, I’m hoping for Zegerid and Neocate…and if she doesn’t listen to you well, she’d have to just already be willing to do that. She’s not on my insurance, and somewhat hard to get to…so I think I will try a few more doctors on my insurance before trying her. I guess if I knew she’d give me what I want I’d go to her right away, it’s just hard to tell.
