Has anyone given their child a double dose of medicines before???

Lack of communication on my husband and I tonight. We gave my son a double dose of 2ml pepcid. So he got 4ml. I stayed calm and called the GI doc. Of course we had to wait for the “callback”. And of course I started bawling while we waited. Looked up signs of pepcid overdose on the internet. The clock is ticking—get the senerio? The phone rings and my husband has to answer ‘cuz I’m crying too hard. The doc says it’s no harm. I’m a bit relieved to hear it, but at the same time, I’m going to watch him like a hawk all night now.

Besides the fact that I don’t know how this happened, I’m still concerned about how my son will react to the double dose. Time will tell. He’s almost 15 mths and about 23-24 lbs.

On a bright note, he reacts to the pepcid by getting sleepy. Maybe he’ll sleep really well tonight:)

OH, I feel soooo guilty.

Amy – try not to worry – these things happen and Pepcid is a very safe
medicine. Hopefully your night went OK and maybe Henry slept well!

He’s just a bit crabby today, but that’s nothing new

The doctor was right and I just worry too much. I’ve heard of forgetting a dose, but giving too many doses??? I’m sure we’ll never do that again…WWHEEEWW.

Don’t feel bad, we have private duty nursing for our son and stuff like that still happens from time to time. My husband and I did a simalar thing with Reglan before and I was a mess till we passed that 24 hour period. I still get mad just thinking about it.
