It really is difficult to time the Prevacid around meals. It drove me
nuts when Myles was on it. What I did was make sure his last meal was 2
hours before he usually went to bed for the night, or for the longest
stretch of sleep (when he was still gettting up at night to eat). When
he was five months old he was usually ready for bed by 8pm, so I didn’t
feed him after 5:30; gave him his Prevacid at 7:30 and bottle at 8pm.
Sometimes I would have to wake him from a daytime nap so that he would
have enough to eat so I could stop feeding him at 5:30. It really
is a PITA. Zegerid would be so much easier.
Personally I would not cut out the night time dose even if you can’t
give it to them on a completely empty stomach. They will still get some
benefit from the drug. They just won’t get the full effect. Myles’
tummy was definitely not always empty when he got his meds and it still
helped him.
