InactiveHi moms,
Things have been going well for us with the food, but now the intake of milk has decreased. We have ALWAYS had a weight issue since birth and at nine months Owen was finally on the charts (4%) so I don’t want to lose what we already have. How many oz should a 10mo-11mo child be taking of milk per day? I would say at minimum he takes 15-18oz, never more than 20 per 24hrs. I know he’s okay cause he is sleeping, happy etc, but I just don’t want to lose weight and the kid is almost ready to walk!
He’s going to be a little peanut on wheels! He crawls like a speed deamon and I know he’s burning calories like crazy!!!!!Thanks so much for the input!August 24, 2007 at 1:45 pm #41595Anonymous
InactiveI think that is fine.. they say not less then 18 ounces I THINK. sooo i am pretty sure it doesnt have to be 32 anymore, or was it 36? hmm i cant remember and it wasnt even that long ago! But i do think that 24 is enough..and try not to let it go below 18. Just make sure he is getting nutritous foods instead of snack type foods. I think when he starts walking..he will want to eat more as well as burning more calories..that is what happened with Shane. The more active he was the more he woudl eat.. so hopefully that will be the same with Owen!

InactiveMy doc said no less than 18oz until they are one when they dip to 16oz. Gabby is pretty small too 17th percentile. Once she started walking, she only gained one pound in three months!
What kind fo formula is he on? Do you think you can sneak more into his cereal? I took it upon myself to add more calories to the bottles every now and then by adding an extra half to full scoop of formula to her six oz bottles. I am obviously not a doc though and I’m sure they would have frowned on that.

InactiveThanks,
The child has never taken anything more than 24 oz in 24 hours, even when he was very small. I counted every last drop of milk after I stopped breastfeeding and then he threw up so much of course I didn’t know really what he was taking in.
I do make his neocate scoops heaping, so I think his milk has a few more calories there. At daycare, I just worry because they give him sippy cups a lot for lunch and snack and he just isn’t to the point of taking milk cold, much less from a sippy cup. And then of course they will only keep the milk for so long, so they write down what he takes for bottles, but he gets more from a sippy, but I know he’s not drinking all of it, some of it has to be going to waste.
Anyway, we don’t go to the doc until the middle of October. I know he’s maintaining or at least he feels heavy to me, it’s just he’s moving so much. I guess I have to have something to worry about!
