InactiveHi,
I have read through quite a few of the posts, and not many of them say how much your babies eat while reflux is not under control. My lil guy is 4.5 months and we struggle to get him to eat 2 ounces at a time. We just got his PPI upped to 15mg, 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at night. He also started carafate again 3 nights ago. He still is not eating more than 2 ounces every 2-3 hours. Is this normal reflux behavior?October 19, 2007 at 7:48 pm #44489Anonymous
InactiveIt’s hard for me to say since Ben is breastfed, but he would only eat for a few minutes at a time… sometimes only 3 minutes before he would pull off… This is when his reflux was really bad.. right around 4 months or so.

InactiveDid he loose weight or have weight issues. My guy has major weight issues and I am afraid he is gonna loose. He only weigh about 11-12lbs.
What was your lil guy on?

InactiveCooper was a huge eater taking up to 44 oz at one point in time. He is what is known as a comfort eater. I think all babies are different. Reflux tends to flare b/t 4 and 7 months so that may be part of the issue. Some babies on the site if I remember were onlt taking 24 oz/day at some points, but many those moms will chime in to help you out.

InactiveBoth of my girls rarely ate more than 20 oz in a day. Kaelyn was a huge spitter and we had to limit her intake so she’d keep some of it down. Alex never had any interest in food.
Funny thing is… Kaelyn always wanted to eat and now she has hardly eats at all. Alex was an extremely reluctant eater and now she is constantly begging for more food. So, I guess you just never know!October 21, 2007 at 8:36 pm #44550Anonymous
InactiveNo, he never had weight issues.. suprisingly enough. I have OAL, so I think he was getting a lot of milk in a short period of time. His gaining really slowed down at 4-6 months though and then picked back up when the worst of the reflux was behind him.

InactiveMy daughter is 6 months old, and for a long time we struggled to get 15oz down her. Now she eats about 30oz, but she can only eat at 4oz increments. Do you all find that they can only small amounts of food at a time. I go out and never see other mothers feeding their babies…I guess when you have a “normal” non reflux kid, you can feed then go out for a few hours…(the few times I do go out)…but when I am out I am ALWAYS feeding my DD. I am trying to get a stokke xplory stroller, as it is higher and can rear face. I just feel like such an alien when I go out with 10 bottles for one outting, 10-12 puke rags, 3 changes of clothes which all fit into my HUGE diaper bag. An apnea monitor, and my purse. Then I meet up with a friend whose son is 2 months older than my daughter. She is able to go out alone and has a small little diaper bag.
The feeding thing is really hard, I don’t want her to lose weight. We are trying solids and seeing an allergist. That is helping some, but still a struggle to get the food down her.October 23, 2007 at 1:16 pm #44624Anonymous
InactiveAt that age Aiden ate 2-3 ounces every 3-4 hours (and that was a struggle to get that much in him)never more than 24oz in 24 hours, usually more like 20-21oz. He is almost 8 months old now and drinks 4-5 ounces every 5 x/day(including still at night) so he still generally consumes no maore than 24 oz/day but we now give him 3 “meals” also, so that helps….these little refluxers I think just do much better with smaller meals, many willnever be the “chug 8 ounces” babies….
