Grayson is doing much much better on the neocate all but the reflux. It actually seems worse.I feel like he needs more meds and have an appt at the Ped Gi in April. What I really want to know is how can I thicken his bottle?? He is MSPI so can I use any of the cereals at all???

Sorry, I don’t know much about MSPI, but I’ve learned from reading these posts that Beechnut brand oatmeal cereal is soy free. Gerber has soy. Many moms use oatmeal instead of rice because the rice is so binding and also gives some babies lots of gas. I use/used oatmeal with all my babies and they did fine with it. Hope that helps some.

Glad Grayson is doing better on the neocate. I think we both started using it at the same time. Things are much better here too. But.. the neocate sure is watery! We started thickening with beechnut oatmeal. I only do 1 tbs. per 2 ounces. But.. alot of moms do 1 tbs.per ounce. Start off slow, with just a bit in the bottles and work your way up or you will stop him all up and give him a belly ache. Also, i put a package of simply thick in there. I swear, if i make a bottle in public, people look at me like i am crazy.

Ryann really didn’t start doing well on the cereals until she was 6 months old though. I heard mspi babies have really weak tummies. Good luck!

They have a website. simplythick.com. I order from them all the time. They do have a starter kit so you can try diff. consistenties. We use the indv. packets of nector conisist. because we had a swallow study done and found out she was aspirating during drinking. They told us she did well on necter. Honey may be too thick for him. It is really just zanthum gum and just goes through their systems without get digested. He will poop better too. Also, it helps with the choking and gagging that refluxers usually do when they are drinking their bottles.
