Today we were at the mall, and Hailey was sitting contently in her stroller when she suddenly started fussing. It went on so I picked her up for a second, then put her back down which kind of upset her but she was fine. Fine all the way to the car…. fastforward to the car. I go to buckle her into her seat and she suddenly out of the blue starts HYSTERICAL screaming- the red faced crazy kind. I took her out, she stopped but was still kind of frantic. I eventually put her back in after trying to unload our groceries with one hand and she went nuts again. People were stopping their cars and one old couple even made a comment “roll down the window” while shaking their heads….roll it down??? It’s winter here? Anyhow, they’re lucky they’re elderly otherwise I might have said some choice words back. Well I eventually just had to go with her screaming b/c we couldn’t stay there all day. She screamed all the way home, vomitted everywhere, and didn’t stop sreaming even when I picked her up and brought her in. Eventually the only thing that made it stop was putting on a baby Einstein video (Thank you for the millionth time baby einstein). Now she’s sitting fine playing with her toys, but her eyes and face are still puffy from the incident. Thanks for reading this whole trivial saga (I know its ridiculous in the grand scheme of things), but all I want to know is what the HECK was that???!!!! Has this ever happened to any of you. It was really scary- I thought I might have an accident on the ride home it was so awful.

The only reason I say that is I did that a COUPLE of times (bad mommy) when Sophia was fussy to begin with and I was trying to make a quick exit from somewhere as a result. The only reason I figured it out was after Sophia absolutely freaked out .. .kind of like what your describing style freak out. Just a thought. .. other than that – have no ideas other than checking her ears. My daughters had multiple ear infections and I’m always afraid of an ear drum bursting – would think that would involve blood though. Poor thing, sounds like she sure got herself whipped up though and thats awful anytime that happens. Sorry for the bad morning. .. hope shes doing better soon.

She was right around 10-12 months and we were out shopping one night and she started crying hysterically like that in a store and it was all I could do to get me and her out of there. Nothing would settle her, it was really scary. Same thing we got home, I put a show on and she seemed fine. Maybe overstimulated? At the time, that was the only thing I could come up with.
Hope Hailey is better soon!
March 27, 2006 at 12:39 pm #4731AnonymousInactiveMarisa has done this a few times too but every time in the end (after
flipping out that something was horribly wrong) it turned out to be
overtiredness and over stimulation. Marisa is so active that she gets
that way easily – she goes from 60 to 0 in seconds.Hope she’s feeling better soon.

April 7, 2006 at 12:58 am #5589AnonymousInactivebabies will just do that sometimes. i once had my son scream almost the entire meeting at church (i wasn’t in the chapel)—–i don’t know why i didn’t go home. once a friend and i went to a store with our kids, she had gradeschooler that was difficult and i had a very fussy baby. we were walking through the store with these screaming children—-i’m sure we made quite a scene!!! it’s even worse when you are stuck in a long checkout line with a screamer—–your nerves start to curl.
April 7, 2006 at 5:11 pm #5661AnonymousInactiveIt is just something they do sometimes…unfortunately Samantha has done this on several occasions. I had one lady tell me that I sould spank her, that happened about a week ago, I looked at her like she was out of her mind. That would have been a nightmare!!! It was not like she was throwing a fit for mething she did not get…
