I give up!!!!

With Carson, for his morning dose of Prilosec, I scoop up a bite of applesauce and sprinkle the prilosec beads on top. I give it to him around 8AM and then he wakes usually before 830 – and then I feed him at 830. If he doesn’t wake up, I wake him around 820AM so he is awake when he eats. Sometimes I think he doesn’t eat so great because he is eating RIGHT when he wakes, but he doesn’t take the Prilosec so well in the AM.

In the evening, our other boys are here and they *bribe* him and tell him they will play horsey or go outside with him or push him in the swing *if he takes his medicine* and he gobbles it right up. In the morning, he just has me – and apparently I am not nearly as fun as the boys – so I give it to him when he is sleeping!

I don’t think it is RIGHT but it works for us for now. Day – by – day!

Thanks! That’s a great idea about giving it to her while she’s asleep. I never thought of that. We’ll give it a whirl! Kate has her upper G.I in the morning so wish us luck! She can’t eat for four hours before we register so that should be tons of fun. I’ll tell you one thing though, when we first brought her home, every time she would whimper I would panic. Now, not that I’m not bothered by her screaming, it’s just such a part of our day now that I’m not as nervous about it as I once was. What can I do, you know? I’m trying everything I can. Tommorrow(I never know how to spell that word…), we’ll see what the test reveals and then I’ll just have to push. Today was a good day but we’ll see what the morning brings. I think I will do TED. If it doesn’t work at least I’ll know I tried everything. I’ll post tommorrrow(there it is again..)and let you know what happens. Thanks for all the sweet words!

Claire, I am so sorry you are going through this. Were are you located? maybe one of us knows of a good doc in your area. Just a few things, first I also gave Justice his meds in his sleep for awhile. We then switched to zegerid which you don’t have to time with meals. You can also get caracream which means you don’t have to time around meals. Zegerid is another ppi and caracream is something you add to the prevacid. Next thing is I always did my own med increases. Within reason of course. I also always talked to dr Phillips at marci-kids.com about all med increases. My sons doc never even knew we increased the meds. last thing I will say is to call the doc when you are crying, angry, or just plain at your wits end. Call often and let them know things are the way they are. Of course, always being nice, but getting your point across. Oh, maybe even try seeing a laction consultant and maybe they could call your ped and tell them things are not normal. A lot of lacation consultants know about reflux and have seen a baby with it nurse. The diet is also a really great idea. Good luck. Please let us know how it all goes. Please know that you can always come here to vent or for help. I probably drive everyone crazy, but they never show it. THey just keep helping me out. A wonderful bunch of parents are on here.
