Inactiveok some of you may remember seeign the posts of how well Aidan was doing..eating solids great, taking in more formula..reflux diminishing et…etc…Well today after feeding him his lunch (carrots) he kept arching his back, looking to the left..etc, and started to gag on a few of the bites (he has had carrots beore, loved them) I cut his meds in half around a week ago, but even before then I was not actually g iving them to him the EXACT way you should (2 hrs after eating, 30 mins before empty stomach) I just didn’t think it mattered b/c he didn’t seem any different if I did that as oposed to just giving it to him right before he ate..This happened 2 times (when it happened at breakfast my first thought was “oh how cute he learned how to look over his shoulder) when it happened again at lunch..I got a bit worried…I am not going to give him any solids except cereal (which he has in his bottle anyway) for at least a week…..and am switching back to the brand of formula he has always used, I switched it because I found one with no soy, but I am thinking maybe that’s playing a part in this, I don’t know..I guess I posted too many good posts in a row!!! (or I think I prematurely assumed his reflux was gone) It was just horrible to think that it was gone and then have him do this…maybe just a med issue, maybe when I go back to the orrigional dose he’ll be ok again…

Inactiveso sorry to hear about the set back. It is probably just the med cut. It is so upsetting when you think you are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel only to have things go bad again

InactiveI agree – sounds like the med cut back to me. Maybe instead of cutting from 30 to 15 you could go to 22.5?
Hope everything is back on track soon.

InactiveI would definitely get him back on the original dose of meds. Prevacid stays in your system a while so you may have had a “honeymoon period” with the lower dose even if he did need more. Also, saw your other post about the Prevacid packets. We used them initially and always had success with them. I know a lot of folks on here hate them but Seth actually loved it and would get it excited to get it. I called it “kool-aid”. We only switched since the solutabs (and capsules) are so much easier to give. Some have had success with the packets by straining the beads out of the strawberry mix with a tea strainer and then putting in applesauce. Hope Aiden feels better soon!

InactiveSo sorry to hear he is not over his reflux
I can’t tell you how many times I thought Myles was over it only to have it return with a vengence. Once he went two entire weeks without throwing up. I thought for sure he was done with reflux. Then it came back and now he throws up a lot. Some days not at all, but some days as many as four times. I HATE THIS DISEASE!!.
I know how disappointed you must feel. It sucks.
Don’t feel bad about posting about about your “good” news and med cut. If nothing else it will make me (and others) be more cautious, so you may have helped many people. When Myles was doing well those two weeks I was ready to cut his meds. Now I’ll be less inclined to do so until I am really sure it’s time.
I hope getting Aidan back on his regular dose of Prevacid helps quickly.

InactiveI think the meds are the issue, AND I started ( today) giving them 2 him the best way ( how you are suposed to) it’s just hard to do that for me, having to drag him around to all my older son’s stuff, and having to work around Austin’s schedule, I also am going to try giving it 3 X instead of 2…I am also thinking that it might have been the meds plus the fact that he has eaten peaches 2X maybe that aggravited it 2….anyway, he has been fine today, just cereal this morning and he did ok, if he is alright for a few more days, I’ll start introducing “real” solids again..thinking of starting with bananas…ty for the support guys!! -oh and when I said brand of FORMULA I meant brand of CEREAL-my brain is a bit scattered lately-lolAidansmom792006-5-10 14:14:46

InactiveI know what you mean about the “prevacid/feeding” schedule. It drives me nuts. To give a baby Pravacid on an empty stomach and 30 minutes before a full meal, three times a day, is a severe pain in the rear end! I feel like I have to revolve my entire day around Myles’ meds and his feedings, and I am always watching the clock so I can stay on schedule. It’s nuts! I just can’t wait until it’s all done with and we can begin to have a normal life around here.
Sorry…I guess I should just be thankful that the meds work and he is eating.
I hope Aidan continues to feel better and that he will be eating his solids again soon without any trouble. Hopefully both our boys will be done with reflux and off prevacid in the near future.

Inactivehe ate some oatmeal cereal today, 2 tbs’s for breakfast and just a bit for lunch but has been drinking his bottles alright, I think he’s getting a cold, has been coughing on and off for the last 3 days or so, I thought it was his reflux but now he’s been sneezing-yuck next will come the inevitable faucet of snot which I will diligently suction out..ugh My older one was NEVER sick when he was this little he saved all his viruses and crap for when he turned 3-lol
