InactiveHi! I have increased Sarah’s Zegerid dose from 30mg/day to 33mg/day. Does the increase take several days to be noticed like when you start Zegerid for the first time…or could I maybe be able to notice an improvement right away?
Any moms who’ve increased…how long did it take to see an improvement?

Inactivei went from 30 to 36, he is now on 42.
dr phillips said a really small increase like yours prob wont make a difference.November 19, 2006 at 1:42 pm #18399Anonymous
InactiveI didn’t think about there being no change, but 33 is the highest for her weight right now so hopefully it will be enough.

Thanks!!

InactiveReally???? Wow that changes a lot…that calculation says 42 mg…Are you sure?? Not that I don’t believe you, but if the 20mg calc was wrong, why haven’t they fixed it yet or told people to use the 40mg calculations?

Inactivejoel posted it on here before…
Trace was started on 30 mg just like Sarah.
he’s now on 42, and he weighs less than her im sure.November 19, 2006 at 4:32 pm #18411Anonymous
InactiveThe calculation that Joel gave me for the 20mg packets is to take their weight, multiply it by .7 then divide by 2. (Abby is 17 lbs X .7 = 11.9 divided by 2 = 5.95) which is why we give her 6 ml per dose. I have always used that formula to calculate where Abby needs to be at and thus far, it has been very successful. Granted all kids are different and some can get by on less, and some need more but it is a great starting point.
Hope she starts feeling better soon!!

InactiveThis is so confusing!
I used the calculations you gave me a few days ago, Robin, and just added 6.5ml of water for every 20mg packet…making 10ml of suspension like normal. Now that she’s getting more per dose (5.5ml instead of 5ml) I have a little left over (like you said I would) and I’m saving it for the next time we make a big batch to add to that. Sarah weighs 17 pounds as well. Maybe I should make her dose to 6ml instead of 5.5ml. I guess I’ll wait and see if I notice a difference at all with 5.5. I feel like I should get a phD in mixing Zegerid!
I’m going to make note of that formula you are using for Kayla and just go by that from now on. Thanks ladies!

InactiveCan someone please help me out–too tired to do math properly it seems.
We just started Zegerid. We are using the 20mg packets, and he is getting a
half packet per day, 3 times a day, so 30mg. Is that going to be enough?
Dominic is 18 pounds, and 8 months old. Thanks!

according to marci-kids.com your son would need 42 mg.
my son is on this dose right now.
but all babies are different. just keep in mind docs tend to underdose PPI’s.November 19, 2006 at 5:53 pm #18426Anonymous
InactiveIf you are going to mix it up this way…I’ll tell you how we do it. We put 13.5 ml of water into a big syringe. Then we add two 20mg packets of Zegerid. This makes a 20ml total suspension of liquid. Then we put 5ml doses into 4 smaller syringes with tip caps and keep them in the fridge! This perfectly equals out to 10mg per dose!
