Hi, I´m new to the forum and I´m hoping someone can shed some light on what happened. DD Mila is 5 mo old and was diagnosed with reflux at around 8 wks. She hasn´t been doing well for the past few weeks and we just started seeing a new GI last week who changed all of what we were doing drastically (meds and feeding). We just started the new plan yesterday which included starting Mila with solids. I must mention that she has soy and milk intolerance and is on Nutramigen. We tried the rice cereal to thicken her formula and turned out she was also allergic to that. So the new GI said to start out with oatmeal. She´s doing really well taking the spoon and I think she really enjoys eating but last night she had a really bad night. Went to bed as usual and a couple of hours later started waking up crying a bit, then falling back asleep for a few minutes, then waking up. This went on for a few hours, then I thought maybe she was hungry (since this GI also decreased the ammount of formula to be given to her in a day), so I gave her a bottle and she gobbled it down but kept on fussing. She was crying a bit and grunting a lot. We tried to put her in her bouncy seat thinking it may be the reflux and that didn´t help. She hadn´t had a BM that day so DH suggested we gave her some glycerin (she had had one the previous day, so is not like she had been constipated for days). So we did, she had a BM and after that she slept soundly. I sent an e-mail to the GI asking him if this was normal, and he only said that he didn´t think it was the oatmeal, so to try it again. Has anything similar happened to anybody? I don´t know wheter to worry that is a sign of intolerance to the oatmeal or just take it as normal since it is a big change for DD (the solids and new meds). Sorry for the long winded post and thanks in advance for your help.
In case you need to know, she´s taking: 1.5ml Rank (ranitidine) and 1.5 Perivan (we will wean her off this one as per the new GI) in the morning and around 6pm 15mg of lanzoprazol with a bit of apple puree.
