Inactiventaliachick7, thanks for the link . when i get some time i will read it. i just wrote another post while you were writing this one to me, so after i said that she doesn’t cry she has been crying all day. she has a gi appmt on tuesday. this doc is pretty decent so far. he was laughing when i said that grace had smelly farts. he said to my then five week daughter in a cooing baby voice”i didn’t know that women farted i thought thats why they got migraines from holding them in” i thought it was kind of funny he really is a nice guy(even though the situation is not a laughing matter) i guess when you dont get to leave the house anything can amuse you
as i am writing this my daughter just sneezed like 5x and milk came out of her nose. mspi anyone!!!!!

InactiveWhat does the AR stand for in Enfamil AR?
My son is on Enfamil Gentle ease and I am thinking about changing him, but from everything I am reading it seems that changing only helps in the case of MSPI….is that a correct assumption, or am I missing something…I feel like do that a lot lately.

InactiveI tell ya – I am learning a lot! Sorry for the silly questions
….but here are a few more…I assume the enfamil AR is similiar to the options of adding rice cereal to the formula?!?!My doc recently (started on Monday) had us start adding rice cereal (2 tsp per 4 ounces of formula) to Jacob’s formula. Is it possible that this could make it worse for him? He seems to have gotten a little bit more uncomfy since we started!!!!

Inactiveand yes you are right about the AR but its a little different. AR is designed to curdle in the stomach only if the PH is low-so its useless if the baby is on meds.
and
yes it is possible. if they are too young their digestive system is immature and can upset them.
what brand are you using? beechnut is the only brand that is soy free and for my son that made a difference.
how old is your son again?nataliachick72006-10-11 22:23:34

InactiveMy son is 4 months old. It seemed that he was getting so much worse, so I stopped giving him the rice cereal today. Maybe I should try the beechnut?

InactiveRice cereal often causes gas and constipation. I started all three of my babies on oatmeal for that reason. Many moms here have also used oatmeal instead of rice and had good results, but of course all babies are different. The Beechnut brand contains no soy, but gerber does have soy ingredients.
I’m on page three now so I can’t refer back; how long has he been on Prevacid now? Maybe 15 mg is too low for him. My son really needed the high dose that http://www.marci-kids.com recommends. He was miserable until we got his dose right.
I hope things improve soon.

InactiveHe has been on the Prevacid for exactly two weeks and I do think the dose is too low, but my doctor is really giving me a hard time about increasing it. I feel so helpless right now!
Maybe I am going to try oatmeal….

InactiveIt took me WEEKS to convince Myles’ doctor, but the marci-kids information did finally sway her. Have you tried printing it all out and faxing it to her? Just yesterday another mom had success faxing the marci-kids info along with a nice letter requesting to please let her try the higher dose for her baby, and it worked!
Her letter is on page two of the following thread.

Keep trying and good luck. It took me 8 weeks to get Myles on the right dose and it was so worth it. He was a new baby!
