Is Alimentum the right choice

My daughter was recently switched to Alimentum after not tolerating regular Goodstart or soy. She was always very fussy, very gassy and she couldn’t poop on her own or it was very painful to. Now she is on Alimentum and I think it might be hurting her axid reflux (on Prevacid). I mean, now she doesn’t scream all day anymore. But she has these moments where she gets very frantic and fidgety and then starts to gag and then spits up and screams. And she is till gassy and not pooping on her own. Just wondering if she should be on Enfamil AR or if this is just the way it is going to be and we have to just wait it out.

you may want to try the RTF if you are using the powder. We use concentrate and the concentrate and RTf are alittle thicker than the powder. If she didn’t tolerate good start or soy then she probably won’t tolerate the AR b/c it has milk protein in it.

Ditto what Beth said. Alimentum RTF is actually different than the powder, it does not contain any corn product in it and it is definitely thicker. Alexis’s mom2007-08-30 11:26:17

She is actually on the RTF. I was surprised that it would happen on it. My son was on Alimentum also and the same thing happened to him but he was on the powder. So that is why I tried the RTF. He had the gagging problem the entire time he was on it. Thought maybe this time I could find a resolution. Just must be there immature tummies.

i guess you can try thickening it with rice cereal?? some moms say it helps and some moms say it makes it worse. if you do try it, make sure its the beechnut brand that is soy/dairy free.

I would give it a good 2-3 weeks before you give up. Alimentum messed with Sarah’s digestive system the first week or so and then it leveled out. She seemed miserable at first but then things got SOOO much better! Good luck!
