InactiveHailey hasn’t been doing purees for a while, but I really wanted to try the feeding therapy techniques that were posted, so I broke out the old bowl and spoon again (for the last time, I think). I felt odd about it, but pushed the first bite a bit. She got upset and started fussing.. whining, screaming a bit. I started to cheer etc, but she still kept fussing. Then I went for the second bite, she hit the spoon away. I tried everything, but she just kept hitting it away. Then from across the table Sarah pipes up and says, “Mummy Hailey doesn’t want it”. But I thought I’d try one more time, tried to get her to take it, and she just got really mad and started yelling. Then Sarah piped up again, this time more harshly and loudly and said “Mummy, stop it! Listen to Hailey, she’s saying no thank you”. I was in awe… Gosh these kids are so smart.

InactiveHow cute! I guess it helps to have an uncomplicated view of the world. At that age you just accept things for what they are and don’t try to complicate it with your own ideas or interpretations.

InactiveShe is so smart! I guess sometimes it helps lighten the mood when something happens like that. Big hugs

Inactivelol sometimes these kids are indeed smarter than us although there’s a huge age gap between them, Austin sometimes does the same thing with Aidan,I can never decipher Aidan’s cries but Austin sure can..quite annoying to have a 6 year old not even glance up from his game and say, no mom that’s his “I need a diaper change” cry-lol sounds like Sarah is an awesome big sister!!!

InactiveTalk about little wise guys….last night while shopping at Walmart Liza told her daddy, “Go to a different aisle, daddy. You shouldn’t be buying junk food!”

InactiveMy son wasn’t ready to DIGEST solids until he was 13+ months old – I truely believe that’s why he always refused the food. Don’t rush it. I just would put pieces of soft solids on his tray (peas, small pieces of bread, sliced and quartered hot dogs, sliced and quartered bananas, canned sweet potatoes) and one day – out of the blue with no warning – he ate all of it. Also, I had to be out of the room, or he’d just “play” – I had to “spy” on him out of his site while he ate. The first times I yelled at my dogs – because I thought they jumped up and ate his food – but I watched him from the other room the next time and he ate and ate – yeah!! It will happen any day now for you!
