Hello, I new here and looking for some help with my 7 month old. Recently he has started doing these movements which I could only describe as his head lunges forward and he makes a sneeze sound from in his throat. (it’s not a real sneeze). I of course looked on you tube and say videos of infant spasms and epilepsy and got myself all worked up. I honostly thought he was having seizures until I read more about Sandifers. He has always been a spitter and spit up 1/4 of a bottle at each feeding. I never worried about it because he is a good size baby. I am pretty sure he has reflux since I can hear after a bottle the milk come up and him swallow it back down. In the evenings he will get fussy and wont want to lay down, he will arch his back and seem to not ever get comfortable. I have added 2 videos which shows the little twinges he does. I counted at least 50+ times he did this over the course of a day. I am wondering if this looks familiar to anyone else that their kids have Sandifers. I have yet to bring him to the doctor because my husband just started a new job and medical doesn’t kick in for 30 days. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVmWuwowV_0
We have a filter on our computer that blocks all youtube so I have not watched those. But has your child always had reflux? Or is this something new? I have read though that often when babies have Sandifers their symptoms go away when their reflux is under control. So if you would get the reflux under control and he was still having these “strange movements” I would consider it could be something more than reflux. Happy Mom2012-08-22 19:56:35
I Breastfed for the first 3 months. And looking back and the past couple months I see where he might have had reflux and I just never knew that is what it was. I actually brang him to urgent care last month because he would scream in pain every time I laid him down. I thought it was an ear infection. When the urgent care doc saw him he said he is fine and sent me home. I have been doing alot of reading the past couple days about reflux and and working on getting it under control. There is just something the back of my mind that worries it might be more, like a seizure or infantile spasms and permanent damage is being done. I also have a 9 year old with mild tourettes and i worry that it’s a tick.
