i have my pituitary MRI in a week—-not sure if i have to be injected with something for that. from what info i see on the internet, i assume they are lookin for a tumor. i also got a call from the endocrinologists office telling me that the doctor wanted to have some more tests run. i have to go off the cortisol for a day, fast overnight, and have the test done at 8:am. it is more hormone testing. kevin says that he can see a difference in me already since i have been on the cortisol replacement.
kevin’s surgery on monday wnet well. they had to remove 80% of his lateral miniscus cartilage and 20% of the other half of the miniscus cartilage. he was given a cadaver ligament to replace his ACL. he has a much smaller inscision for the main part of the surgery and 3 tiny little ones. he was scheduled for 3 pm. surgery at a center about 2-2 1/2 hours away—-and we were home by 9 pm. amazing how they keep updating and getting more efficient.
heard from someone at kevin’s job that there had been a bunch of training planned for kevin and whoever else it was that had not learned the electrical and refrigderation—-wonder why kevin never knew about this? it was supposedly planned at a barn that was not in use with cows right now. kevin would have been able to do most of the training while he was recovering from surgery since he wouldn’t be around the cows and slippery manure. also, secretary claimed he had been given several verbal warnings—–he says there was only one—-and it wasn’t documented with his signature. i mentioned since training had been planned and he didn’t get it, they really couldn’t let him go for “performance”. secretary said yes, because he couldn’t perform the work, but he could have if he had been given the training.
we aren’t looking for any lawsuit, but kind of feel like maybe they owe it to him to help us out a little more—-like maybe paying for our cobra insurance until kevin can find a new job.what can a 53 year old man, with two bad knees, and only a high school education, who has spent his entire life working with his hands, really hope to find as a new line of work?????? he was in the tire business for 30 years.i am hoping i won’t get to a point of panic. we have one more check coming and our insurance will be paid until the end of july—-then who knows what we will do. i just can’t believe we are in this same situation after only 1 1/2 years!!!!!any great words of advice out there????July 2, 2009 at 10:31 pm #63192AnonymousInactiveOh, Christine. I’m sorry so much is going on. I know how stressful all of this can get. Sometimes I get so stressed out that I can’t breathe. I just wanted to let you know that I hear you and we’ve all gone through situations that stressed us out. The key is to remind yourself that this too shall pass. Sorry I can’t really advice on your situation. Hugs.
