Well, Justice learned how to climb the steps today. He was on the 5th step before I knew it. We have a gate at the top of the steps , but not the bottom. It was never a problem with my oldest since he was the only child and it was pretty easy to keep up with him. Dh doesn’t like spending money so I’m sure we will have to wait until we find one on ebay. I know worse things in the world right? Just venting. Keep your fingers crossed for me that Justice won’t fall down the steps. He’s a sly one and it’s hard to hear him sometimes. Oh the joys of motherhood.
I completely understand what you are talking about with the second child. Alexis rarely fell and bumped her head since I only had to keep my eye on her and that was my full attention and responsibly to her. Now Taylor, has fallen so many times and bumped her head via her own and witht he help of Alexis of course. It is hard to keep an eye on a toddler and a baby on the move! POOR second child syndrome!!
oh boy and it seems they are drawn to the stairs! I wanted to let you know that before we had a gate for the downstairs, we would just put Seth’s playpen there for a deterrent. It worked really well until he figured out he could just push it out of the way anyway! Have fun.
Alex LOVES the stairs. Anytime we forget to put the gate up she flies towards the stairs. I’ve gotten to the point where I actually let her climb them whenever I’m available to stay right behind her. I figure that she’s determined to climb them, so I might as well let her get good at it. Hopefully, that will help avoid any major falls later on. It’s what we did with Kaelyn and she learned to go up and down the stairs safely really early on. I’m hoping that it works again.
