InactiveHi Everyone,
Do any of you have a suggestion for a car shade that actually stays on the window? The ones I have kept falling off and eventually the little suction cups wouldn’t work anymore.
Also, I’m looking for a cup with a wide bottom so it’s tip proof, (not spill proof, so no lid) for my 3 & 5 year old girls. I found one at One Step Ahead, but it’s small…only 5 ounces which means you can only really only put 3 or 4 ounces into it. I’d like something a little bigger. I’m so tired of spilled milk!
Any suggestions? Thanks.

InactiveHey Christine,
I don’t know about a cup (I was actually going to suggest the one step ahead one
) but we actually got some of this film stuff that you apply directly to your windows. It is kind of a pain, becuase, it is almost impossible to apply without there being a few bubbles here and there, but Brainna is very sensitive to the sun and this was the only thing that covered the entire window. Bonus: no suction cups to worry about. January 31, 2007 at 3:35 pm #23633Anonymous
InactiveMy kids seem to have better luck with plastic mugs. I guess because they’re kind of short and wide. Here’s a site, to give you an idea: plastic kids’ mugs
These have lids, but you get the idea.
I’m sure you could find something similar (and cheaper!) at Wal-mart.January 31, 2007 at 3:50 pm #23636Anonymous
InactiveI really would love the sunshade to stay on too! I hope someone has good advice for you!

InactiveThanks Emily,
Where do you get the film stuff? I have to get something soon. My kids all flip out about the sun in there eyes. They’re all driving me nuts in the car.

Thanks, Heather.
I could see how the mugs would work, and they can be used without the cover. I’ll check to see if Walmart has anything like that. If not I may just have to get the One Step Ahead ones. I just wish they were a little bigger.

InactiveI got the film stuff at Target and it worked great!! It was in the baby section.
I guess a trip to Fargo might be in your plans now

InactiveThanks Robin,
Ugh…not another trip to Fargo! DH wants to go nearly every weekend. I really hate to go in the winter. Maybe I’ll see if they have it online. Thanks for the tip!

InactiveWe had the same problem, I tried everything. Finally when we got the van I paid for the extra tinting in the windows b/c I couldn’t take it anymore. We haven’t had the problem since, though it’s still an issue for the car (but we don’t take the kids in it very often).
What’s Fargo?

InactiveI think we got ours at Baby’s R Us…Is that near you? I would try the online thing too. I can’t imagine driving 1.5 with Brianna anywhere!!!

InactiveWell, we got the film type car shades and they seem to be working well! Thanks Robin and Emily for the suggestion.

And I’ve been using mugs instead of cups for the girls and, wow! what a difference. No more spilled milk!!! I can’t believe I never thought of that before. Thanks Heather!

InactiveI’m glad the mugs worked for you!

InactiveI’m so happy about mugs!!! Oh, the little things that make a bored SAHM happy!
My girls love them too! They think I bought them mugs because they are big girls, not because I’m so sick of spilled milk.

InactiveI am glad you like the film shades. I will have to remember about the mugs too. Brianna is already getting to the point where she wants to do everything like mommy and daddy do. Sippy cups are so two months ago for her.

InactiveChristine:
Glad the shades are working well for you. How’s the weather up there in Nodak?? I am so sick of this cold weather I could just puke – and you would think with us being in SOUTH Dakota, we would be warmer than you – I guess that only applies in the summer

Lori:
Fargo is Fargo North Dakota, about the only decent place to shop in North or South Dakota. Fargo is also the name of an incrediblly stupid movie about ND.

InactiveRobin,
That was a rather bizarre movie. Most of it took place in MN, so why call it Fargo anyway? And they didn’t get the accent right. No one I’ve ever met in Fargo, or in ND for that matter speaks like that.

Yeah, I’m sick and tired of budling my three up and dragging them out in this horrific cold. Enough is enough already!
