kids on probiotics

Just wondering if anyone with their lo on probiotics has noticed that stools are extremely loose unless you space the probiotics several days apart (this would be after a while of regular probiotics use)???

Lucas has been on them for several months and it seems now that he’s never having even remotely formed stools, and then I ran out of probiotic and he didn’t take it for four days and we had a nicely formed stool. Weird……

Wierd Anne. I would expect the opposite, that the probiotic would help them poop nicely.

Yeah, I know, it’s supposed to help things stay even more “normal.” I know our diet doesn’t exactly encourage hard stools, but he’s eating bananas and rice and things that should really stop him up and not even having a formed stool. Should I be worried about this? It’s just occurred to me maybe I should be?? Yet he seems fine otherwise….

He doesn’t seem to be bothered by it and has had no diaper rashes associated with it….it’s just so different from most kiddos his age. I tell you, between being on a ppi since five months old, our crazy diet and all, and his hiatal hernia, and other GI issues, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that his stools might be a little off.

Here’s a thought…. might there be something in the brand of probiotic that you’re using that he’s reacting to. I know that he has a lot of intolerances. Could you try another brand?
