Well, it is kind of like buying a car. Interestingly enough, he is offering $300 so must feel he owes you $$ back. If he is offering $300 I would be nice, yet firm and discuss why you think it should be $500 (or whatever your number would be). If he is offering $300 off the bat, you can get more than that. Wonder if this has happened to him before??
