InactiveI really want to let the feeding up to Brian (14 1/2 month) now, because I am afraid if I keep forcing food into him, he will become worse and worse. I have read some success story that mom let the feeding up to their babies, then their babies turn around and eat more, can you please share your story with me? Sometimes he gets fussy the first spoonful, what should I do? Should I just end the feeding all together?
Thank you!
Sharon

InactiveJust put the food in front of him and let him eat. Give him things that you wouldn’t even think of and let him explore.

InactiveMy daughter never had any reflux issues but often times would nt want to eat. For her the best thing was for me to jus give her foods and then do something else. With us, I seemed like I was pressuring her even though I had no clue I was doing that. Now at 18 months there are days that she will not eat but the next day she eats double the amount.

InactiveCory – my niece has no reflux too, but she hardly eats, she only eats one big meal every 3-4 days. Brian does not know how to feed himself and I can not let go, so I just keep forcing food into him, the worse part is I set a goal for him to finish certain amount every meal, I really want (and try) to let go just like my SIL, then maybe Brian will loss weight

InactiveSharon, have you looked into feeding therapy yet? They start with preemie babies in the hospital. Might help you if you ask your ped for a referral. Hope that you get through this frustrating time real soon (hope we all do!)

InactiveSharon,
I wish I could give you some advise, but we are going through the exact same situation. I will definitely give you any info that my OT gives us. How is Brian doing on his weight? I cant seem to get Noah to gain. He is 19 1/2 lbs and hasnt gained in almost a month.

InactiveLisa : Brian is down to two bottles of 6oz each, so he really need to eat enough solid to gain or just maintain the wt. How is Noah’s eating these days? Does Noah like yogurt? It’s very high in cal, I buy those portable yogurt from yoplait, I just squeeze the yogurt into his mouth while he is watch Baby Einstein. We went out for dinner past two evening, and I fed Brian in the retaurant, he had the best meal ever, maybe it was the distraction or maybe I am more relax. I am thinking about taking him to the mall for his meals every day.
