Inactivejust wanting to know if this is “normal”. shane may look like he is passed out .. but i will go in his room to cover him..and his head pops RIGHT up! the second i open the door! it doesnt matter if its 1:00 in the morning.. to 10 @ night.. or even 15 min. into his nap! its crazy..it kinda freaks me out. he didnt used to do this a couple months ago.. more recently.
is this normal? or do it put it in the pile with all his other strange sleep issues?

InactiveI don’t know if it’s normal or not, but Sarah was like that as a baby. If you even tiptoed near her door, or peeked in, she’d pop up. My friend’s baby was the opposite, and she could have multiple people in the room looking at the baby and talking while she was asleep and she wouldn’t budge. If it helps any, Sarah’s not like that anymore.

Inactivedepending on where Cooper is in his “sleep cycle” he will just pop up, but usually will fall right back to sleep. In the middle of the night if there is a thunderstorm like last night, our dog likes to sleep in his room and she snores and her snoring can wake him up as well. I just think some babies are light sleepers which sucks for those of us who are their parents.

InactiveAlexis was that way. It did not matter what, a little noise she would be wide awake! Finally at 3 y/o she is a sound sleeper, she does not toss and turn as much as she use to either. Taylor is a sound sleeper but does move around a lot! As a baby she slept like a log until she was hungry, but now she tosses and turns quite a bit. She naps very well without moving at all and that is typicall 1 1/2 -2 hours, but at night it takes her forever to fall asleep, she tosses and turns, sleeps really good for 45 mins then is tossing and turning for another 45 mins then she gets a good stretch of sleep 2-3 hours then tosses and turns for another 45 mins etc that is how our nights go. She doesn’t seem in distress just a restless sleeper. Alexis was a really restless sleeper as well, I heard that getting her tonsils removed would help with that but it really didn’t, unless it took her body over a year to adjust to the removal? Who knows!

InactiveI always noticed if I missed the window and Dylan was too tired when I put him down, he would crash so hard for a short period of time and then sleep lighter the rest of the night. When I put him to bed when he wasn’t over tired, he would sleep better all night long…..
Not sure if that would even help or not…
I would still persue the ENT route and not give up yet. If your gut is telling you to look, then you should. You are doing a great job and it is hard to not question ourselves when the doctors tell us there is nothing wrong. Maybe there isn’t, but you won’t feel bad persuing something that turned out to be nothing more than you will feel bad if you knew it all along and then there was something you could do to help….
Hang in there, Lauren!

InactiveLauren,
Brianna used to be the same way. I couldn’t even be on the second level (her bed is on the third) because as soon as she got to that light sleep cycle, the slightest noise would wake her up. And she would pop up just like someone startled her. It was hard for a while, but she is much better now. Durning her naps we still have to draw the shades all over the house so that light doesn’t come into her room, but she does great at night, and naps for two hours most days.

InactiveYep, completely understand about a dark room. Alexis would never nap if there was any natural light coming in, she would sleep at night with a night light but during naps which were always short enough any hit of light she was up. We all had to tip toe around the house when she slept, it was horrible. Now, once she is actually asleep we can have noise even some light, no tip toeing anymore!
