Did Sarah ever get the immunization, and if so, how did it go?
July 3, 2006 at 1:49 pm #10998AnonymousInactiveThanks for asking Ann Marie. I was afraid to post until I was sure that she wasn’t going to have a reaction. We were told that they typically react within a couple of days.
She had the shot on Thursday morning. We gave her advil right beforehand and basically dosed her round the clock on advil for 2 days. We took her temp and it seemed normal so by Saturday, we just monitored her and took her temp. She was fine, no seizure (thank God).
Thank you so much for your support (and the rest of you who asked as well).
Ann Marie, how is Carter doing today?
July 3, 2006 at 2:01 pm #11001AnonymousInactiveSo glad it went well!!!!!
Carter is fine today. We put him on Neocate and now, day three, doing so much better already. He has failed 4 out of 5 Early Intervention categories of development, so we will start receiving PT services next week. I’m not too upset about it as he was only due 3 weeks ago, so how much should he be doing, anyway?????
Glad that Sarah is doing well!! I have been thinking about it since you said you were going for the shot, and I was hoping all went fine.
July 4, 2006 at 1:02 pm #11032AnonymousInactiveGlad to hear that the neocate is making a difference. I’m not sure if you’ve seen the recent threads (there have been a few) by people who have received their neocate through their insurance.
Why does Carter need EI? He still seems so young, I didn’t really think they did much until they were a bit older.
Again, thanks for asking about us and for your well wishes.
I hope that things only get better for you guys.
July 4, 2006 at 1:37 pm #11034AnonymousInactiveLori – glad that Sarah did well…!!
Ann Marie – i guess that they look at age vs adjusted age… that seems unfair for the evals and means little BUT the EI program is great so i am sure you will take as much as they offer!!
July 5, 2006 at 8:15 am #11048AnonymousInactiveOur EI programs in CT are from Birth to Three. Some children automatically qualify if they are in high risk for being delayed even if they are not delayed yet, so that they can catch it early. Believe me, our system sounds better than it is. We fought the Birth To Three dept in our state for quite a while until they got out there and did for Dylan what they should have so you could say we are somewhat experts at this now. Everyone in the State of CT EI dept knows us pretty well at this point. I don’t know if that is good or bad, but we will get what we need for Carter without much of a fight this time. That whole story could take too long, but I will post it sometime for other parents having that fight.
I think we did the test on Carter adjusted and not adjusted and he still failed. I think he should be responding to sound and focusing on our faces and he is not doing either. It could be that he is still really immature from being preemie, or that he is still recovering from what he just went through, or he could have real issues, but either way because he is so high risk for delays, they will come now until we are sure he will catch up fine.
Sorry I’ve hyjacked this post about Sarah. Again, I am so glad it went well and hope that you are still reaction free!
