Hi Lori, I just called the manufacturer to ask about the comfy lift bed and he told me he had just talked to a lady from Canada that was inquiring about the recent price increase. I told him I knew you from this board!! He said he just sent you an e-mail that he will give us all at infantreflux.org a special rate if we call direct and note we are from this group. I guess he benefits from word of mouth sales. I am so excited. I ordered the bed at the discount special rate and it will be here this week…. Thank you so much!! I will get with Karen (the moderator) to find out how to officially make this known.
April 17, 2006 at 11:10 am #6224AnonymousInactivePost this on Forum help and Karen will get it.
April 23, 2006 at 3:58 pm #6643AnonymousInactiveTiffany, I don’t know how I missed this. I did send him a sort of heated email and we had been corresponding about the price of the bed. I basically told him that I didn’t think it was right to take advantage of parents who will desperately do anything to get their babies some relief. I also gave him a summary of the current product reviews from this site. I have to say that he was SUPER KIND AND VERY CARING AND COMPASSIONATE. I really do believe that he had to up the costs due to rising oil prices, and other issues pertaining to surviving and making a profit when you are a small company. I was very impressed with him on a personal level.
I am so glad that you got the discount…. I hadn’t heard back from him after I’d already read your post that you bought the bed, and then I got so caught up in things going on here that I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT I FORGOT TO POST AN UPDATE ON THIS!!!!! I AM SO SO SORRY. I FEEL AWFUL!!! I”M SO GLAD THAT YOU GOT THE SPECIAL RATE! Please let me know how he likes the bed. We are going to order ours on Monday. Thank you so much for this post, I really don’t know how I forgot.
April 23, 2006 at 7:06 pm #6646AnonymousInactiveHi Lori, the bed did arrive late Friday (8:00 pm) so we did not get it set up until yesterday. I agree Mr. Rubio was very helpful and even timed the shipping so it would arrive Friday when we were home since we were expecting rain all week here. We did discuss in depth that the pricing which seems high includes not only the foam but the design, marketing, etc., etc. and they do have to make some money to survive which I do understand.
As for the bed, the good news is that the bed does look like it would be very comfy and help alleviate reflux. The bad news is Seth does not seem to like it. He took a great nap in it so I had high hopes for it last night but he woke up a few times because I think he was trying to roll over (he likes to sleep on his tummy) and the high sides were kind of restrictive. He also slid down some but we had one of the footrests underneath his head (to prop it up more, this was an option). He was also a little intimidated by it since it was so high and made it harder for him to get in and out of his new toddler bedframe (which he loves and has had a few days now) so we have actually now put the comfy lift bed on the floor in hopes that he will get more used to it since he can easily get in and out of it. So, bottom line, I think it would work great if he will stay in it. I think it is a good idea that you are getting it for Hailey now before she gets too used to something else although I know you have posted how she does not like change so something to think about.
I must tell you though, I was kind of disappointed in the waterproof liner. He did tell me we would not get all of the bells and whistles at the discounted rate but I was under the impression that it would look like the one on their website but it was just a long crib liner that did not cover the whole bed. Also, the sheet was plain white but was very soft but you may want to ask about these things. I am not handy at all craft or sewing wise but I thought about trying to get a big piece of some kind of kid friendly printed fabric to throw over it so it would not look so plain.
At any rate, thank you again for getting the price down for us. I felt a lot more comfortable trying it at the reduced rate. Please keep me posted how yours works out for you!!

April 23, 2006 at 9:35 pm #6654AnonymousInactiveTiffany, sorry to hear that Seth won’t stay in the bed. Hopefully he’ll get used to it with time. I think it’s a good idea to put it on the floor so he gets used to having it around. That’s my fear about trying it for Hailey… I hate the thought of spending so much money on something that she might not even use. But I feel like I need to try it so I’m not always left wondering. He told me that we wouldn’t get the crib tent, but I figured that I didn’t want that anyways. I’m not too concerned about the liner. I’ll just pick a cheap one up from toys r us if I need one. Anyhow, the one that I saw in pictures looked more like a drop sheet that didn’t look so comfortable anyhow. I found this link that showed the bed in some pictures, but I think it’s kind of old. Is this what it basically looks like?
April 24, 2006 at 9:04 am #6686AnonymousInactiveBecause ours was so high in the toddler bed, we took the metal bottom out (like in the crib), so the mattress was on the floor, but in the toddler bed. Does this make any sense???? I am not sure I am being clear because I can’t remember a thing these days and I can’t remember the name of that metal bottom thing……
April 24, 2006 at 9:46 am #6690AnonymousInactiveHi Lori, the bed does look pretty much like that still. That was the picture I was going on for the cover/sheet and they have changed those. Guess what? I think putting the bed on the floor helped. Seth was climbing in and out of it last night playing and then he did sleep in it most of the night (he fell asleep with DH after bedtime bottle so we put him in it). He did wake up a few times (also teething) but no reflux episode! He had even eaten some new things when we went out to lunch yesterday so I was a little fearful. We did put him back in his toddler bed early this am. He always wakes up real early but we can usually get him back to sleep.
Also, DH said this was no big deal but it bothers me so I was going to tell you- two of the foot pieces had some small blackish spots on them. I don’t know if it shipped this way or maybe it happened during delivery. Looks maybe like grease? I’m afraid trying to clean them would hurt the foam. I may call to tell Mr. Rubio about this.
Ann Marie, that is a great idea about just putting the bed on the floor! He does like the new firetruck bedframe so much (he thinks it is a toy!) I’ll be sure to tell DH….

April 24, 2006 at 12:14 pm #6698AnonymousInactiveJust wanted to update that I did get in touch with them about the spots (e-mail). He quickly responded and told me I could use dishwashing detg. safely on them.
Also, I asked about getting a pattern for the sheet. He was going to check but said their seamstress could make me one for 15.00 labor + shipping. I may take them up on it. I found some very cute 100% cotton fabric online that had fire engines and dalmation dogs on it. It would be cute with his new bedframe and hopefully he would like it better too and therefore be more inclined to want to stay in the bed. It’s a shame that none of this new stuff matches his room though. We did have an airplane theme going…. Oh well, you do whatcha got to do…
April 24, 2006 at 3:08 pm #6708AnonymousInactiveTiffany, what did he say the spots are from? Are they everywhere? We just ordered ours this morning. It will take a week to get here, and then unfortunately, on top of the exchange rate we are going to get slammed for another hundred dollars to get it through customs…. OH WELL!!! Like you said, you do what you gotta do, right?
I also just wanted to reiterate to others that he plans to give others the special price if they call him, so I’ll post this to Karen.
Good to know too about the patterned sheets, but we’re okay with white (that’s what we use now). Did you buy the frame from him too?
April 25, 2006 at 10:05 am #6778AnonymousInactiveLori, the spots were just on the edges of two of the foot pieces. They are small- look almost like fingerprints. He did not know why they were there. I am wondering if maybe the box was opened and inspected during shipment? Really not that big of a deal but at that price, I just expect everything to be in perfect shape!
Speaking of prices, that is a bummer that you will incur so many extra charges! If it works though, I guess it will be well worth it.
I saw where you posted in the forum help about the bed. I guess I should have done that too as Kathleen suggested so everyone could see it. I e-mailed her direct last week about it but have not heard back.
Take care and keep me posted how you like the bed.
April 25, 2006 at 10:07 am #6779AnonymousInactiveOh, forgot to tell you that we bought the bedframe at Toys R Us for 189.00. There was no way I was paying to have that thing shipped!!
April 25, 2006 at 10:16 am #6782AnonymousInactiveI know Tiffany! I laughed when I saw the cost of the frame, plus the cost of shipping. I almost wanted to tell the guy that he should consider selling extra sheets and covers to make more money instead of bedframes that cost over $200 to ship!
April 25, 2006 at 10:20 am #6783AnonymousInactiveApril 27, 2006 at 9:41 am #6976AnonymousInactiveHi again Lori, I just wanted to share that I tried putting a normal crib sheet on the comfy lift bed and although it did not cover the whole thing it does cover the top pretty well. I just left the sheet it came with on there but put one of Seth’s old printed sheets on top. I thought of trying to have one made but I really do not want to invest anymore money on this thing until I know he is going to use it. This may sound crazy but I just associated the white sheet with a hospital bed and did not like it…I know you said you use white sheets but just in case you ever need a spare…..
