InactiveHey Everybody,
Whew! It’s kind of a relief to not have an urgent problem having to do with reflux that needs immediate answering!!! I can hear the collective sigh of relief from you all too
So here’s the skinny: I am losing buckets and buckets of hair. It’s ridiculous. It’s everywhere and it’s freaking me out a little. Let’s see….Kate’s four and a half months old so is this normal to start losing your hair after a baby? Could it be my hormones adjusting back to normal? Truly it’s making me sick. I’m constantly picking it off of her clothes and mine and the bathroom floor jada, jada, jada. Seriously, we could support all the employees of the company that makes Drano on the amount of it that we go through!!!
If anyone has anything to say to ease my anxiety I would be so grateful.
Luckily, I had really thick hair to start with so it’s not like I’m going bald or anything but I pull it out by the handfulls! Yuck!
Thanks ahead of time!!! I hope I’m not the only one!

InactiveI’ve lost hair with both boys, going through it with you right now. I guess Owen is about 9 1/2 mo and it started at 4 mo with both of them so I’m thinking it could go on 6 months or more for me…..
It’s getting to be less and less, but thank goodness I have thick hair! I do look like I have a receeding hair line if I pull my hair back in a ponytail!
Owen is crawling everywhere now, so it’s hard to keep him out of it. I swear I’m constantly vaccuming and sweeping up hair!
Hope it ends for you sooner than later!July 22, 2007 at 9:05 am #39698Anonymous
InactiveThanks you guys! I’ll take a deep breath of relief and keep vaccuming!!

InactiveClaire,
I noticed the same problem when Chloe was about 3 or 4 monhts fortunately, I had been forewarned. I was sad though because when I was pregnant I barely shed and I was loving it. Chloe just turned one and I just realized that probably the last month or so it has gone back to the normal amount of shedding. Yhank goodness for swiffers.July 22, 2007 at 10:48 am #39703Anonymous
InactiveI have always shed and agree with Laurie that being pregnant was AWESOME because I never shed! I don’t think I EVER had to clean the drain out in the shower!!
I started shedding really badly after having Sarah and it got worse once I stopped breastfeeding (4 months). My hair dresser said it takes up to a year for your hormones to balance out and return to normal. At least that gives you something to look forward to!!??

InactiveI lost so much after Sarah was born that I thought I would go completely bald. DH noticed it, but it took a while before he got up the courage to ask me if I was losing my hair (I was kind of unpredictable)…
It was everywhere and all the drains were clogging. It did stop thankfully though I don’t remember when.July 22, 2007 at 2:01 pm #39712Anonymous
InactiveI lost tons of hair while nursing (well, pumping) for each of my three babies. I mean TONS of hair. It was crazy. My hair thinned so much it was like having toddler hair for a while until he grew back in. My doctor said it was normal and had something to do with estrogen changes. Not sure what exactly, but that was the short explanation she gave me.

InactiveI’ve had this with all 5 (going through it now). It’s because as hormones get back to normal, the extended second phase of the hair growth cycle that gives us that thick beautiful pregnancy hair, goes back to normal as well and bye bye hair
I can feel my hair running down my back in the shower…uggggg. Ponytails, ponytails..July 22, 2007 at 10:12 pm #39727Anonymous

You, Claire, are seriously living my life, just a few months behind. If you did a search you would find that I posted this exact topic when Ben was about 4 months old too!!! I think the hormones must be really haywire about that time because the hair falling out got really bad then. It has definitely gotten better, but I am still losing more than normal. AND, it’s grown back darker and CURLY!! WEIRD!!!! I got it cut finally because I was so sick of pulling long hairs out of Ben’s fingers. Gross. July 23, 2007 at 2:41 pm #39759Anonymous
InactiveClaire,
Yep – it’s normal. I noticed it too when Caden was about 4 months old and remember it from my other babies too. I will say that now I don’t notice it as much – Caden is almost 9 months old, so it doesn’t last forever. Also, I have thick hair too, so you can’t tell by looking at me, but it was weird to see the hair brush FUll of hair every time! It will stop soon don’t worry.I hope Kate is still doing better
