InactiveThis is the most peculiar rash I’ve ever seen! Bryce woke up this morning with a rash on his left forearm and his left cheek. A little while later the rash had faded away and then I noticed it on his left upper arm. Then that faded and it showed up on his right forearm. Then it faded once again and showed up on his right calf and his left thigh! What is this?? The rash itself is similar to hives… red, inflamed, and hot to the touch. The skin feels kind of hard when I press on it, but is smooth and not bumpy.
It doesn’t seem to bother him, but I just can’t figure out what it is. It seems to be an allergic reaction, but I haven’t given him any new foods or used any new soaps or detergents. He hasn’t even been outside lately!
Any ideas?? These aren’t the greatest pics…

This one was just starting to come on:

InactiveThat’s what Kaelyn’s allergic rashes looked like. Have you tried anything new in the last week? Has he had a significant amount more of something this week? Kaelyn’s started to look like that when she started actually liking to drink milk.

InactiveI haven’t given him anything new and not a huge amount of anything either. Kim, how long did it take for Kaelyn’s rash to show up? I’m just wondering how far I need to think back. I’m pretty sure he hasn’t had anything new for quite awhile though. Also, did Kaelyn’s rash move around like that?

InactiveWhen Alana had her “allergic rash” to the antibitotics it was approximately two weeks. The Dr indicated this was quite common with a reaction to something digested (although of course they are not always right

InactiveThere were times when it took a day and other times it seemed like a week or two. That’s why we had such a hard time figuring out what was going on. And, yes, it moved around, but not this quickly.

InactiveThanks. I guess we’ll just have to keep an eye on him and see if it happens again. He’s still asleep, so I’m not sure if he still has the rash this morning.

InactiveI’d also wonder viral, but our experience with viral usually is all over or on the torso as little dots for some reason. Could it be a heat rash? It’s kind of hard to see the details.

InactiveTaylor gets rashes like that if she ate something that she is allergic to and it does spread in a strange pattern as you descibed but usually once it is done spreading it typically stays in her cheeks. Her’s is a reaction that occurs within the day of what she ate. Maybe he developed an intolerance to something new that you introduced a few weeks ago? Taylor never seems upset about her rashs either, it just looks bad.

InactiveI don’t think it’s a heat rash. I’m fairly positive it’s hives and an allergic reaction to something. I’ve just never seen hives disappear and reappear like that. We took Bryce to the GI doctor today and she thought it was hives as well. I guess we’ll probably never figure out what he’s allergic too. Hopefully it’s just a one time thing.
Sue, I don’t think I’ve introduced anything new even in the last few weeks….
