She’s back on alimentum. She does much better on it. She was throwing up a lot on the Elecare and acting really miserable. Right now she takes Nexium. We’re a little over a week into it and she’s making some progress but it’s slow. The hardest part is that the Nexium gels when you mix it and that makes it hard to give through a nipple. She tends to spit it out if you put it in her mouth. But she only got up once last night in spite of spitting so much out yesterday evening, so I’m crossing my fingers for a good day and a trip to see Santa.

She had blood in her stool which is what caused the initial change of formula. Otherwise, she only threw up on regular formula and Neocate. Her symptoms were very reflux – screaming and arching back while eating and after, being inconsolable an hour or so after eating, you could actually hear the stomach liquid sloshing up her throat.

She’s on alimentum for formula and Nexium for reflux. Still some struggles but much better than in the beginning. We’re getting back to daily struggles with inconsolability and screaming during at least 1 bottle a day. I’ll be following up with the GI doc this week to see if we need to make an adjustment.
I think it’s pretty clear now though, that she had a milk/soy protein intolerance rather than a pure allergy and her main lingering issue is reflux.
