More questions – Prevacid Solutab

Hi all,

I have just started giving my daughter the Prevacid Solutabs. How many hours after a meal is “an empty stomach”?

And what is the easiest way to give a solutab? I have tried with a syringe (not sure how much got into her mouth) and by putting water on my fingers and letting it (somewhat) dissolve and wiping it into her mouth. Not sure if these are getting her the full dose…seems she has it all over her face when I finish either way!

usually about 2 hours after a meal is good. make sure you give it 30-60 min before a meal.

i think you can dissolve the solutab in a little plastic cup with a teaspoon of water and then syringe it into the sides by her cheeks.

how old is she? i know some babes just let it dissolve in their mouths.

Hi, thanks for your suggestions. She is 10 weeks old so I’ll try the teaspoon of water and a syringe in the side of her cheek.

We put the tablet on a baby spoon the use a dropper to add a little water then break up with anothe spoon, then feed it to her. We have been doing it this way since she was 10wks. W

We used to try a wait 1.5hr-2hrs after a meal and then wait 30mins after giving it to feed her.

I used to dissove it in a small medicine cup and administer it using a dropper instead of a syringe. The little droppers that come with baby mylicon or tylenol work great.

2 hours after a meal is fine.

We go 2-2.5hrs after a meal depending. We use a baby spoon and put just enough water to dissolve the tablet and put the spoon in his mouth and then use a syringe that has about 2ml of water in it to wash off the spoon into his mouth just in case he doesn’t get it all off the spoon. This has worked really well since he was 11 weeks old.
