InactiveWhat is up with the men and the guilt thing? My husband does the same thing. Not staying out all night. He would get an ear full. The guilt thing. I have said to him how sad it makes me that he is gone all the time and he says,” I have to make the money, what do you want to be poor and live on the streets”
Uh yes honey that is what I mean.
I can’t stand that! I would have a huge talk with my husband. i would want to know exactly what he was doing and i wouldn’t let him give me anymore bs. Just me though.
I’m assuming that is him in the pic with your daughter. I want to flick him in the ear for you. Let us at him!

Inactivei find this topic very interesting because while i acknowledge kevieb’s valid opinion, my husband is a SAHD and i travel a lot for work. so while i don’t have any “time out” with him (no babysitters or family closeby, though we have dates when our parents are visiting) or with my friends, i feel like its really important to give him some time away from the house. i got him flyers (hockey) tickets for a dozen games. this way he goes out 2 times a month, during the week and sees some friends, i catch my breath watching bad tv and go to bed early. even though we are sort of non-traditional, i still think there’s a double standard for moms of any kind…like my “me” time is on airplanes and in meetings and he hangs out with his pals and has a couple of beers. still i think every healthy relationship needs two happy individuals working together, not one stressed/ overburdened and the other hung over. indulging in hobbies or going out can help maintain this balance. but i also think that not being able to go out as a couple makes this situation tough.
and this is not to say that being with our children is a burden…i love my time with my family more than words can express…and i love having a couple of hours alone to read or watch supernanny…

Inactivehi becky!!! haven’t seen you around for awhile!
i think that everyone needs some time away occasionally—-i just have a problem with a spouse being gone from the evening until the next morning—–just out “playing”—–just doesn’t seem appropriate. however, it doesn’t necessarily mean that there is anything bad going on.
that was a really thoughtful thing for you to do for your husband, becky.
