Has anyone’s child had an allergic reaction to Mylanta? I gave my son his first dose (1 ml) earlier today and tonight he had a couple hives on his leg. My husband had just changed his diaper, and we’re not sure if it was something on my husband’s hand (he’d cut himself at work and had some medication and bandages on his hand) or if it was the Mylanta. I don’t think it was anything I ate because I’m on a strict no milk/soy diet and pretty much eat the same things daily. I REALLY hope it’s not the Mylanta because I’m hoping to give it to him at night to help him sleep until the Prilosec kicks in.
Hmmm…. Kaelyn has lots of allergy issues and she’s never seemed to react to the Mylanta. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s not a possibility. I guess anything is possible. I would wait until the hives clear up and then try again. If it happens again, then it must be the mylanta.
FYI for anyone interested – I’m fairly certain it was the Mylanta that gave him hives (I gave him another dose yesterday to check and he had a couple again). It also gave him a tummy ache, so while we avoided the 4 a.m. scream fest, we were up at 2:30, 3:30 and 4:30 due to the tummy 🙂
Oh well, it was worth a try!
