Could someone please tell me how much mylanta you give your child? My daughter is on prevacid and zantac but I occasionally use the mylanta for breakthrough acid. Not really sure how much to be giving though! Thanks!
It depends on the weight and age. I think marci-kids.com has the med. info on there. Under your profile, you can edit the signature and tell us your name and your childs birthday and meds.
I gave my dd .5 ml before bottles when she was 2 months old. now I give 1 ml as needed. I think babies get loose stools if you give them too much.
ok- thanks. I had been given her about 1 ml once or twice a day as needed. I figured that was more than ok, but was interested in the doses that other moms give.
I was on a medical website, not sure which one, and it stated that the appropriate dose was 0.5 mL per kg, as needed, a maximum of 4-5 times a day. It works ok for my daughter, but not great. They had a product for my son 5 years ago called childrens liquid mylanta that worked great, but I can no longer find it. If you can locate that you give 5mL PRN.
Thanks so much for the input-this website is awesome!!! I have been reading posts for quite a while but never registed until today. It is really helpful to know that others out there can share your frustration, pain, sadness, etc….. My daughter brings me such joy (except when eating ). Sometimes you just want to vent to people that know what you are going through. I am a NICU nurse and my daughter was in the unit I work in for 6 and half months!!! I could have used one of these support groups online a long time ago! Thanks again for all the responses. I welcome any questions you may have for me.
My ped GI told me it was safe to go up to a tablespoon with Michael, he weighs about 21 pounds and he is 32 inches at 13 months. Reading these posts that sounds like a lot, so hopefully it is ok
