I know they’re very popular, but I’m just realizing that I didn’t use them for a while, and now that I am giving them to my daughter again, her reflux symptoms seem to be worse. Has anyone else noticed this? I can’t remember if the symptoms started before or after I started up on the Mylicon again… I think it was before, but her throwing up I believe became worse again after the mylicon…just reaching here! Any input would be appreciated!
I agree…mylicon doesn’t work for every baby. My GI said it really didn’t do anything for refluxers…Brianna still gets it 2x day (before naps and bed). I am really not sure if it is doing anything…but it isn’t hurting either. But if it doesn’t seem to be helping, I wouldn’t bother. I know somewhere I read about people using Cherry Mylanta Supreme for gas….just a thought if gas is bothering you LO
actually cherry mylanta supreme gave my son TERRIBLE PAINFUL gas. it has done that to other babies on here. it also can cause diarhea because of the magnesium. mylanta is more for reflux, to coat the esophogus. and for that i stick to regular mylanta without the magnesium.
I’ve been using the Mylicon lately right before I feed Ben. It seems to help him get burps up (dry ones too!) during and after the feed. I have been wondering though if it is really helping or if it is hindering since he isn’t sleeping as well lately too. Hmmmm…
From what I’ve heard, Mylicon is for stomach gas (to aid in burping) but it can make intestinal gas worse. I’m not sure if that would affect reflux or not, but if it seems to affect her, it’s probably worth stopping it.
