Nexium Not Working

We switched to Nexium 3 weeks ago from Prevacid and it doesn’t seem to be working. He seems to be having more difficulties breathing including wheezing and coughing coming back as well as another ear infection. Should we go back to the Prevacid or try something else or just try a higher dose. My DS is currently on 20 mg Nexium 3.6 ml Reglan 1.5 ml Erthromycen and 5 ml Zantac. We are most likely doing a fundop in November so this is just to survive until then. Any ideas?

I’m sorry to hear this! Was the prevacid dose higher?

Some drugs just perform better for some babies too. maybe the prevacid just performed better. Sometimes I ask myself if Landen did better on Prevacid but I always worried that the lactose in the solutabs bothered him too. He has such a sensitive stomach, he cannot tolerate anything.

If it isn’t that the nexium dose doesn’t need to be higher, I’d prob go back to the one that worked better.

wow iam sorry the meds combo is not helping. It sounds like they should be. is the prevacid dose high enough? i would try some Mylanta in bewteen med dose. The wheezing, couphing and ear ifection are worrisome. Are you thickening his feeds? You don’t need to use rice cereal for that. i used simply thick and it worked well for Kendra. I have some left if you want to try it. Jut PM me your address. I use 1 teaspon for evry 4 ounce bottle and used the fast flow nipple from platex.

I’ll do some research before doing a fundo. This surgery should be as last result. Does your little one sleep elevated, at least 30 degree angle?
